Today is a new day and year! Since the end of July, I managed to take off 26 pounds - the last couple months has been very slow and very little loss, but I am okay with that. Part of my journey is to be able to stablize and not gain weight, too. At my next doctor appointment, I may need to make a decision on whether to take a break from the medications. I have been on them for six months. I have not been trying all that hard to lose weight and the phentermine/topiramate are not really made to be taken long term, so I might be better off to take a break, see how I do on my own and then maybe go back on the meds. I am still not to goal and, at 206, not into Onederland...LOL! For me, getting below 200 is a real marker for me that I am getting out of the overweight game - just recently, I seem to be out of the plus size in the pants and in the size 14 for pants, but I do want to try on some more. Trying on smaller sizes makes me sooo anxious tho. Part of me does not believe it will fit and then when it does, OMG! I do think all that anxiety triggers me to eat over all those feelings...
For 2014, I hope to keep my weight loss I have achieved, and continue to work on going lower. Hope to hear from others in this group!! Louise

I started working with a doctor here in my hometown and have lost 25 lbs. I thought I knew everything about weight loss until I met with her. I have struggled with my obesity my entire life. I understand through my doctor that obesity is a disease and needs to be treated like one. She started with an extensive evaluation and testing before she prescribed the phentermine. Her 2 hour orientation with new patients was very eye opening. I am on a 1500 calorie meal plan along with taking the phentermine twice a day. I'm delighted how this tool helps me with hunger, cravings and overeating. My fitness pal has been a fantastic tool for tracking. I haven't starting back to exerciseing yet but I am trying to fit that in with my busy life. My husband starts today and our family will see healthier changes all around. I've researched the bariatric websites and are amazed at the research and data on obesity. I also had weight loss surgery in 2007. It didn't help me with my addiction to food. This does! I recommend the book "The end of overeating". It explains our food industry. My doctor uses the method of only having 10-15 teaspoons of sugar in your food a day. That is calculated by taking the carbs minus fiber- divided by 5= teaspoons of sugar.. That keeps the insulin level steady. My fitness pals helps with doing the math. I'd like to know if you have similar guidance by your doctor. I'm all alone out here with this type of plan. Best of luck everyone.0
