Leaving group

On January 20th, I will be two years post-partum with my son. Here's what I learned:

I had an emergency C-section with him. I did not realize that even two years after the fact, that I would sometimes still itch, have tenderness, numbness and sometimes a sharp pain at the incision area. I've learned to accept it now and I just need to accept that is how it is.

My boy is going to be 2 and he STILL wakes up 1-2 times a night. This makes it very hard to get motivated in the mornings. I drink coffee to combat this and I refuse to feel bad about it any longer.

I've not been consistent with my diet or workout and that's okay. I've only been really consistent for the last 3 weeks I'll get there.

Basically, the biggest thing is to remember there is no blue ribbon or trophy for getting down to your pre-pregnancy weight in a set amount of time. I've been status quo for two years. This is really the first time I see me as realistically getting with the program.

Good luck to you all. Enjoy your little ones and it will all work out.

You're so right - there is no blue ribbon for hitting your pre-preg weight. It's a goal that many women set and I don't think there's anything wrong with achieving it, but I also think women who don't hit that weight and who don't want to make it their focus are perfectly normal moms too!

    Good luck with your goals!

    BTW coffee is awesome :)

    I LOVE COFFEE!!!

I've got an almost 3 year old who wakes up 1-2 times per night more often than not and a 5 month old who is up 3-4 times per night. If I didn't drink coffee I would not be nearly as patient a parent as I am. I often got to sleep at night thinking, "At least when morning comes I'll get a cup of coffee." Seriously.

Good luck in your parenting and fitness quest.
