Logging BF calories burned

Hello! I am just returning to MFP after being gone for a year and half. I originally joined to lose weight for my wedding and was very successful. Now I am returning to lose weight after baby. DD is 5 months old today and I am sick of being "fat". I hope to be as successful this time around. I just joined this group so I could get some guidance and encouragement from other breastfeeding mommas. I do have a couple questions though... I know I have to take in more calories while breastfeeding, so I increased my daily goal to 1,800. (My supply decreases easily so I don't want to do anything to jeopardize that. I'll probably start slowly decreasing my daily calorie intake once I see how it effects my supply) How do I account for the calories burned while breastfeeding though?? I have seen a couple posts where y'all mention "logging breastfeeding calories". How is this done? I have looked all over the website and can't find anywhere that even lets you say that you're BFing. Do I just manually take away 500 calories or so? Any help would be appreciated!!

My son was 5 months on the 21st! I'm still figuring this all out but I know you can add breastfeeding as a "food" - if you search it will come up as a negative calorie food or you can also add it as exercise. I think everyone does it differently - what works for other people?

You're so right! Thanks for the tip :) Happy 5 months to your LO! I hope you're enjoying him as much as I'm enjoying my daughter :)
