Don't be pissed - this whole thing is a process!
Did you feel a pop and then pain - or just a pop?
I snap crackle and pop quite a bit as I'm getting warmed up but it's just me.
Squatting 55 lbs means perhaps you're just getting started (or you were warming up)? If so, I experienced a lot of 'growing' pains in my erector muscles when I first started - I took care to watch my form, paid attention that none of the discomfort felt acute and continued on.
I'd started skipping body weight squats as I warmed up but I've adopted them again for the dynamic stretching benefits - consider BW squats to feel things out?0 -
I had something similar happen when I was doing ab rollouts. It hurt for a long time, but didn't prevent me from squatting, just couldn't sit in a chair for too long and I occasionally feel it pull. I agree with the slow body weight squats to see how things feel. It isn't an easy place to "rest" so feeling better takes time. I would say I'm 6 months out from doing it and I can still occasionally feel it. I did take a break from most lifting during that time due to traveling for work, but I did some squats when I could. Maybe take a week off the squats and see how it feels with normal activities and then come back onto it.0

I just feel like I'm terrible at SL and still so weak! I can add weight squatting with no problem (except last night apparently lol) but i just kind of suck at lifting weights! (but hey i'm out there doing it!)0

Strength training takes time. Keep at it and it will start to click for you soon.0 -
