Confused

Looking for some advice, please! I have been doing the Walk at Home workouts every day for about a month now (alternating mainly between Four Fast Miles and Three Mega Miles). I am also doing the 5:2 Fast Diet. I have lost 8 lbs in 2 months. Still got a long way to go. However, I have been reading a lot of stuff online recently about how this sort of exercise doesn't really help weight loss very much and that the best exercise for weight loss is HIT. I am 65 and HIT does not appeal to me much. Have any of you on this forum lost weight by doing the Leslie Sansone workouts as your only means of exercise? I am wondering, you see, whether I would have had that 8lb loss just by doing the 5:2 diet alone?
Thanks
Sue

Leslie's dvd's are wonderful! I have lost almost 60 lbs. using them as my main form of exercise. I have 7 of them and I love them all! You have to learn to take a lot of what you read from other people with a grain of salt. If it's working for you, it works! Keep walking! =)

^^Agree. Leslie also has two HIIT videos if you wld like to try doing HIIT. I've been a Leslie sansone walker since '01 and love her video. You get a good wo as they are considered cross training as well. Wish you well in ur journey????

Remember it is all simple math. If your calories out is greater than your calories in, you will lose weight. To increase your calories out, move more, and Leslie's videos are a great way to do that.

While her videos are not my only form of exercise, they are the videos I do most frequently. My heart monitor shows that calories are being burned. I enjoy doing them and don't feel like I'm stressing my body. When I'm done I can tell I've done a workout, but I'm not in pain for days afterwards.

If the videos get your heart pumping and your body moving, then stick with them. They will help you on your weight loss journey.

Leslie Sansone DVDs have been my main, consistent exercise for over 2 years. I would drop the 5:2 diet though.

If a workout get your heart rate up and you keep it sustained you will burn calories. Some people may think these workouts (and walking) does not work because you are not beating yourself up with exercise. Taking a look around this group and Leslie's Walk Stars on her website is proof that it is not true. :)

I have primarily used Leslie's video as my main form of exercise and have lost 80 lbs and it also helps me to maintain.

What concerns me about the 5:2 diet are the lack of calories on the fasting days. Aren't you only suppose to eat 400 or 500 calories on those days? From what I read these walks burn appx. 100 calories per mile (depends on height/weight of course). Your body needs fuel from food especially when working out.

Perhaps it would be better to rest on the fasting days?

I have only used walking as my exercise (I've done Zumba once) and it works for me. I use Leslie DVD's 75 % of the time the 25% is walking outside and i haven't been outside for a walk since October ( I don't like the cold). Like the other posters have said if it is working for you keep at. I use to use the videos on you tube but since have started my own collection. I like having a variety Keep up the good work!

I lost 50 pounds using only these workouts, and kept it off. I do other exercise now, but because Leslie gave me the confidence. It is the exercise for life! I still do her videos 2-3 times a week, and lead Walk Live classes.

I would recommend you do a Leslie workout with the bands or weights at least 2x a week. Strength work is important!
