Hi - I'm going to run this in March:

Is anyone else? Has anyone ever run the trails at Irvine Regional Park in Orange County, CA?
Just trying to get the lay of the land. Thanks!

No, but I am running a trail race for the first time:

No, not the 1/2--> there is a 5 mile option :-)
I went running to a park, 2 miles there, ran around it a bit (sandy, trail), then ran home. The trail was HARD.
In for advice. Not many trails around here.0 -
Looks like a great run. I registered for the 10K. Only 400 feet elevation gain.0

Looks like fun, sadly the timing of their events is no good for me.0

Super me too! I wanted to run the 21k, but have a 30k race in Washington State the following weekend so trying to be "smart"!0 -
I've actually been considering this run and few others in the area as a way to ease into trail running. Seems like you can go and train on or near most of the trails they use. Here are a few others, if you're interested:

http://www.onefootfree.com/santa-ana-river-run-1.html - sadly cancelled but maybe a place to look for a trail run in the are in the future
There was also a Coto de Caza trail run called "ring the bell" up for May, but the website has now expired...strange.0 -

Did you do the 10 or the 21k?
It was my first trail run. mostly fire roads but the horse trails were interesting . . . the gravel and sand in the river bed were not interesting
I liked it a lot and much more fun than pavement.
where's the next one?0 -
I did the 10k because I have a 30k in a few days and am tapering but I would have loved to have done the 21k! I was only in Cali on vacation so not sure about the next one but they are listed on the Into the Wild OC Trail Run site. Trail is awesome and I highly recommend interspersing trail runs among road races...great variety of trails and easier on the legs! Congrats on your run!0
