Ok so I heard about this magical weight thats suppose to disappear the week you stop BF. Well I just stopped BF my 13month old and I have not lost anything magical. Lol. I only nursed/pumped maybe 2-3x last 4days, when i pumped, i only got 3oz after not pumping or nursing for 2days, and then day before I nursed on one side and heard him drinking and stuff, so i guess I havent dried up? I havent nursed or pumped since (hes not interested and I'm not interested to pump lol) for those who stopped, how long until your body starts letting go of this magical weight? does it even exist? I forgot how it was with my daughter, its been 3 yrs since i last nursed her lol. she about 4 now. But with her i had a steady weight loss, this time around, its been very difficult. I did weight watchers with her and been on Myfitnesspal with my son. i'm just frustrated

i have nursed five babies in my lifetime. you just have to give it time. wait at least 2-3wks. and for some people it's different. so just wait it out and keep up with what ever regime u are using. it'll happen. God willing.

I agree, it's too soon. In my experience (feeding my fifth now) it takes about 8 weeks for me to stop producing milk and the weight loss doesn't happen until it's all completely gone. Then a few weeks later I'm a dress size smaller, my skin has firmed back up and my joints have lost their looseness.

Oh awesome, so there's still hope out there. Lol. Ya I still don't feel dried out, I'm tempted to pump just to see where I'm at with this milk producing powers. Haha. I've been doing fairly well with healthy eating. I tend to eat a lot of salads, mainly dinner. Mornings I usually make a breakfast burrito or breakfast sandwich. Don't eat out often. I'm also doing an exercise program with 2 8lb dumbbells. I'm just frustrated cause I just have 8lbs to hit my prepregnant weight which is also my UGW. I'd love to hear more success stories.

I'm still BFing (8 months), and my first was FF, so I don't have personal experience, but from my whining about not losing weight while BFing, others have told me that it will take a few weeks after stopping for your body to stop making milk and to let go of the excess weight.

I googled it once and read on some message board that one lady could still squeeze out milk three months after weaning (no pumping) :noway:

I doubt that's a common experience, but I'd give it some more time. In my head I'm not expecting much that first month or so.

How did you do emotionally? I've been so ready to wean because I'm pissed about the lack of weight loss, but every time I think about weaning, I want to cry. I guess I'm more attached to it than I thought, especially because I don't plan on having more children, and I don't get cuddles with my little guy otherwise

it was hard emotionally BEFORE i did it. I would cry thinking about it, but the day i stopped, I felt great about my decision. well "our" decision, my son didn't like nursing. He preferred his sippy cup. BOOOO lol
  • I've never heard of that, nor was that my experience breastfeeding my first two.
Mind you, I breastfed each of them until 2, so by then they were mostly comfort feeding and my breasts had already shrunk.
