Hi Christy. My name is Kristin. I'm 39 and also have PCOS. I can completely relate!!! I just joined myfitnesspal almost two weeks ago I've been so frustrated but I really need to finally make this happen. Maybe we can support each other trying to get where we want to be. Take care!0

Hi I'm 25 and while I've had PCOS for several years within the past few months my symptoms have come on. I'm on the thin side. Some doctors would consider me under weight for my height. Feel free to friend me. I'm not trying to get pregnant, just trying to manage my symptoms and balance my body back out. I've started taking some supplements with the advice of a naturopathic dr, hopefully in a few months I start to see improvement.0

Hi!
I'm Christina. I've been struggling since my early teens and it wasn't until my late 20s that I was diagnosed with PCOS. It has been hard trying to battle all of this. I've had a few times that I've slipped. But all yuo can do is keep trying. There are some really good information out there. I've found that they less carbs I eat the better I can manage things. Feel free to add me as a friend.
Best of Luck!0 -
Also 39, also a Cyster. FR sent!0

Hi Chrisy:
I am 33 and have PCOS as well. I have been dieting and trying to lose weight and it is difficult. I have friends that do the same thing as me and are down 15-25lbs. It is so frustrating but I know I have to do it. I want to be a mother so bad and I know this is a step in the right direction. If ever you need to vent or just chat please feel free:flowerforyou:0 -

Hi Tarsha! I was finally able to get pregnant but it did require a little medical push. Here's what the docs said to me: PCOS is the easiest form of infertility to treat. And I was able to sustain the pregnancy with a progesterone pill (administered in a very undignified manner). My daughter was 7 weeks premature, but very healthy....and currently in the throes of the terrible twos. Good luck to you!0 -
Thank you so much for the inspiration and advice. And don't worry, she won't be two forever. LOL0

I am 36 and was diagnosed when I was 14. Feel free to add me.0

27 - Diagnosed with PCOS two years ago. SHOULD HAVE BEEN diagnosed at 16 since that is when all the symptoms began and none of the 4 "seasoned" doctors/specialists I had could figure it out. A wise 3rd year medical resident figured it out in 10 minutes...le sigh
Anyway - please feel free to add me (I have added some of you already). It is a tough to understand PCOS and what it is doing to your body. I get so frustrated sometimes because I eat well and I exercise regularly and I won't lose a thing. Hopefully with persistence it will all work out. So far my personal decision to become vegetarian and getting off birth control has helped reduce many of my symptoms. Hope this lasts... lol
I am here if anyone wants to talk or vent or needs support!

I was also able to get pregnant and had to use progesterone suppositories (yuck!) my daughter was 12w5d premature but she is a very healthy almost 20 month old!0 -
Hi I'm Victoria, I was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago. I'm very lucky to have two children, but I'm struggling with my weight, often my moods and certainly menstruation! I've lost a couple of pound with mfp, I find the support of others a big help and would love to chat with people in the same sort of boat xx feel free to add me0

I am Tina, 42. I long suspected I had PCOS but was officially diagnosed at 34. I have lost weight with PCOS with the help of medications (which once I went off of I gained back all of the weight!) and am now finding success with a combination of prescription/homeopathics (Metformin, coupled with Chasteberry (Vitex) and Cinnamon.) I was very lucky that I did have normal cycles a few times a year, every year, and conceived my children (3) without trouble. My primary issues are weight gain, an almost total lack of menses, and significant hair loss. Feel free to FR me!0

I am 34 and a fellow cyster! I know exactly what you are going through! I need some motivation and friends who understand. Feel free to add me!0

I am 31, was diagnosed with PCOS since my early 20's but had problems way before that. I started my cycle when I was 9, the weight kept coming on no matter how active I was was. Metformin was enough to help me get pregnant the 2nd time and that pregnancy was a success. My daughter is 5 now. I am off the metformin because i'm trying to do things the natural way. I can relate to all of you and am looking for new friends/contacts for motivation support. No matter how much you think you know about PCOS, there is always the struggle, the cravings, and not enough people who understand. Feel free to add me as well as i'm just getting back on MFP to stay on track with my weight loss goals and possibly trying to conceive for another baby.0

Hi Christy,
My name is Cheryl (cat) and I am 29. I have been struggling with this for about 4 years and was finally diagnosed last year. I have finally found a combination of things that works for me and recently lost 12 lbs. I am working on losing another 50 and so excited that this is finally working! It can be so hard sometimes because no one understands what it feels like to be doing everything "right" and not get results. If you need a friend feel free to add me, and message me anytime. I am a good listener, and a good friend.

Hey I'm new to this forum stuff so forgive my noobiness lol.
I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 14 (I'm 22 now) & I've always been big. I recently got married and even though we're not financially stable enough to have children yet, I want to lose weight as I'm petrified of the thought of never having them.
I started taking metformin again in January (500mg twice daily) but I'm still finding it ridiculously hard to shift the weight. I've started going to the gym 4 times a week (Cardio Interval Training & occasional weights) but I'm just not seeing the results I want.
I've tried very low carb diet but I just feel lethargic & find I feel faint whilst working out (this happened a few years ago when I was on a normal diet & taking 6000mg of metformin daily, so I stopped taking it & was fine)
Also, does anyone think that the estimated calories burned are overestimated?
Feel free to add me, I need like minded support0 -
I definitely feel they are overestimated, as a rule of thumb I only eat about haft back0

I have had hormone issues since I started having a cycle, but it wasn't till last month that I got this pcos diagnosis. I'm still trying to come to terms with it to be honest, but it is definitely a fit for all the issues I have been struggling with. I would love to have some people to talk to about it, and help support me as I try to loose a significant amount of weight.0

I've just looked at my old posts. Now that my dosage of Metformin is right I'm thriving on a low carb, low fat, high protein diet. I try to stay under 100g carbs & 60g fat a day and try to eat at least 200g protein0

Hello! I also have PCOS. I was diagnosed in my early twenties after years of very obvious symptoms and am currently 36. I've lost 85lbs so far without medication or starvation, so it IS possible to achieve your goals with PCOS. Sometimes it just takes a little longer. :drinker:0

Why low carb and low fat?
If I did low carb, high fat I wouldn't be able to eat the quantities I enjoy eating whilst still staying under my calorie goal. Plus, I have a history of heart disease in the family & high fat will put me at an increased risk. I aim for 20%carb, 30% fat & 50% protein0 -

It appears it's working for you in terms of weight lost. Many people find that eating a high fat, low carb diet is more satiating. I try to eat 80+ grams of fat from various sources, ~70-80 grams of proteins, and less than 50 net grams of carbs.
Additionally, when you're eating a very low carb diet (which is what I cycle through--some days I drop below 20 net carbs and others I'm around 50 net), eating excess protein *can* cause an insulin reaction.0 -
Hi, I'm new to the group too and would be happy to befriend anyone else going through the same struggles I'm 27 and was diagnosed at 16 after my aunt flo decided she just didn't want to pay me any visits! She still doesn't! Some women consider me blessed, but I sure wish she'd come along! My husband and I feel ready to start our family but obviously my reproductive organs have never wanted to join the party. I've been told (as I'm sure we all have) that losing weight will treat it and improve my fertility, but that aside, if I want any kind of fertility treatment on the NHS I must be in the healthy BMI range...well I'm currently in the high 40's so you can see the long path ahead of me!
Anyhow, yes, I'd love to get involved around here and if anyone would like to befriend me then I'd be more than happy to reciprocate0
