Sugar intake

I was just wondering if you watch your sugar intake while bulking or not really...? I really do IIFYM with fat % being a little higher than for most people. I was paying attention to my sugar intake before but now I'm pretty much just eating whatever fits my macros. Not sure it's the best way to go and I was wondering what you're all doing?

I seem to be gaining about 1/2 pound a week, give or take, and I don't feel 'fat' so far... I'm actually pleased with my bulking and especially with the amount of yummy food I get to eat :) BUTTTT... I know sugar is bad and whatnot.

Meh, imo sugar is mainly just a carb

I don't watch sugar at all. When I'm not bulking, most of my sugar comes from natural sources just cause I don't eat a lot of calorie dense chocolate then. But now that I almost eat my body weight in chocolate and ice cream I really don't care that i go over A LOT

Not at all. Bad is defined differently for everyone.

I'm pretty rigid about my food overall, but sugar...doesn't bother me on a bulk at all. During a cut (and maintenance) I tend to be pretty low carb, so low sugar just goes along with that.

    Thanks!
I guess I can go back to watching my sugar when I cut ;)

no I watch carbs more than sugar- and I get a lot from ice cream and fruit- so when I'm more anal retentive about the carbs- I try to be more mindful and I get the scale out for ice cream and stuff- but no- watching the carbs is easier than watching the sugar.

sugar is delicious- so I watch the rest of the carbs so I can fit my sugar in ;)

Nope! But, I don't consume much sugar as it is outside of the occasional piece of fruit- more of a taste preference, not for health.

Not at all. I treat sugar as part of my carb macro. if it fits my carbs intake for the day and I want it…I eat it.

Sugar is just carb energy in rapid-release form. OK so a diet consistently full of sugar will screw up your insulin and can trigger 'boom-bust' in energy levels, but it is not inherently 'bad'. A hit of sugar around your workout can give you a boost, and its consequent release of insulin is great for getting any protein you have at the same time into your muscles.
