How busy is your Gym?
i`m talking a general family type gym, cardio and light weigh machines.
i only ask because my old gym closed (boohoo) i dont know if i was graced for three years by a quiet gym. a direct replacement for it our council run gym is busy, so busy at peak times that there are no stations to use.
i need a new gym!!!

I am with Virgin, at £58 a month and get use both the one at home and the other 5mins from where i work. I end up going 4 times a week often. So its `s about £3.50 a session which is about the same as the council run places, without the unaided convenience of getting the car broken into, broken equipment, class not available as Deirdre is off with stress or there is 45 teenagers bombing everyone in the pool.
Ok thats a little harsh, the equipment is very good now, and they have to cater for those not able to splash out on private gyms (which is fair enough) but parking is still a nightmare.0 -
i think you`ve hit the nail on the head there...
if im going to pay i may awsell join a fancy county club place away from the chavs!
and ive found a lovely reasonably equipped place not too far away.0 -
Yh my gym is cheap £15.99 - and at peak times the whole gym is packed - you would actually have to line up to get on the cardio machines (not that I do any cardio, but my friend told me), so to tackle this problem, I go at 5 am - i may sound crazy waking at this time for gym but at that time, only 1/2 people are there0

I'm with the council gym- Glasgow club: glasgowlife.org.uk/Glasgow_gyms
22 gyms, 11 pools, health suits , hundreds of classes, personal trainers, gymnastics, running tracks, squash courts etc there is even a velodrome and spa. I use two different sports centres, they have lots of up to date equipment, no queues , no 'chavs'. I pay £23 a month. Oh and they have car parks.0 -
i used to go fitness4less which was cheap and had lots of classes and equipment. then i moved to another area and the only options were virgin or fitness first. I got o the second one and yes it is packed!i go mid morning so it is not that bad but my friends go in the evening and sometimes you can not even train properly. for £50 a month…don't think is worth it….0

I have now got two gym memberships!!!
One is in the town I work and is £10.99 pcm (Pure Gym - opens on Thursday ) this is an introductory offer
The other is in the town I live and costs me £21.99 pcm....this one is Lifestyle Fitness and at the moment is heaving...I am hoping it will die down as the year goes on and people carnt be assed with it anymore.
I used to go at 6am but since the showers never seem to be working (or hot) I have knocked that on the head...but with the new Gym I can go before work or straight after.....and I am hoping it won't be as busy.
I worked out that even if I cancelled the Lifestyle Fitness one I would still pay more money in fuel as I work out on weekends + the fact they have some classes at Lifestyle fitness I really like (Less Mills Grit and Kettlebells)0 -
Noticed the xmas rush has died off a little now and soon they will be offering the free months to join again as the lighter nights will be with us.0

I'm not a member of a gym. Used to be part of a council group of ones. I chose to go to one 5 miles out of town and was always fairly empty.
Have just bought a Groupon Deal at a local hotel 10 gym/pool sessions for £12.00. Reading this I just looked at it and over 400 have also bought it. I may need to fight for a machine.0 -
The gym I go to is part of a training/conference centre nearby (happens to be the BT training centre as well). It's only a small gym, but has sufficient equipment for my needs. As long as I avoid 4-6pm weekdays then generally it's just about right. Between 4-6pm you get all the meatheads in that get a free entry a day while staying at the centre, showing off to their mates as to how hard they can pound the cross trainer, or how they can beat each other on the weight machines.
At the moment they are only open to 1pm on Saturday and Sunday as they found that nobody came in after then so were just having staff stood around for no reason. The cost for our joint membership is only a tenner more than for a single at the council gym, and less than the cost of a single at the likes of Virgin Health etc.0 -
Anyone use Bannatynes gyms? Are they good? Bad?
Any feedback would be good.0
