Getting Glutened

Hi guys, I'm sure most of you have experienced getting accidentally "glutened" while on your GF journey. I'm very careful and since going GF have only noticed this happening a couple of times. How long do your symptoms usually last? Is it possible that I can feel tired even after 24 hours of ingesting something with gluten in it? Maybe I'm just coming down with something?!? I know every person is different, but still curious to find out what fellow Celiacs/Gluten Sensitive folks experience... Thanks.

In the past I've felt terrible for a week or more after getting glutened. In my experience I first develop stomach issues pretty immediate. Then I get headachy and flu-ish feeling for a couple of days. Extra tired. Often I get a bit of a rash. My stomach will then be a little more sensitive for a few days.
Strangely most people report getting worse over time but I actually seem to have easier reactions now than I did when I was first gluten free 3 years ago...not sure what that means. I do seem to get bad migraines now that I didn't get then though.0 -
Typically my symptoms show up 24-28 hours after I completely stop eating wheat. I guess it gives my body a chance to realize I've done something wrong lol. It shows up at first as a skin rash/hives, and I do NOT feel like myself at all. I will start having anxiety issues and generally feeling depressed and sad. It then transpires into headache, sinus pain, congestion, nausea, brain fog and lethargy, as well as having the anxiety and sadness sticking around.
I've found my symptoms getting worse the more I stop eating wheat for awhile and then thinking it's okay to have some. Each time I do this I find my headaches getting more powerful and my overall well-being getting worse.
My goal is to be uber careful the next while.

I can have asthma attacks fairly soon after ingesting but the joint & muscle pain and fatigue can last up to a week, bowel problems and skin rashes last about 3 or 4 days. Depends on how much - a tiny crumb of cracker and I might not get an asthma attack, but will have gut issues for 3 days and fatigue/pain about the same length of time. I don't do any 'larger' gluten mistakes - if I have ANY doubt - I won't touch it. Soooo not worth it.

Once everything settles down, which usually takes up to 24hrs I do feel very tired for the next 24 hours. It just takes a toll on my body. I have also noticed that the last few attacks lasted longer than 24 hours.0 -
Thank you for sharing your experience! Since I only get gluten-ed at work, because our chef refuses to communicate with me, I've decided to do something about it and put the Americans with Disabilities Act to work.
