Hello all.
I'm a type 1 diabetic. I'm not new to mfp, but I am recommitting. I was diagnosed as a type 1 late in life... 3 years ago. I find it so very hard to balance working out, with carbs, with blood sugar, with insulin. It's tricky. I quit going to the gym because I either went too low or too high during my workouts & got very discouraged. Now I've put on 35 pounds & I am recommitting. I could really use some other diabetics to connect with for advice & moral support. Please add me. :)

    Hi Trish,
I'm a late bloomer as well. Dx ed at age 60. I find it much easier now that I'm pumping as I can pump to meals rather than eat to MDI dose. My CGM helps as well as I can see where I'm heading before it gets too out of wack.
Have you read the diabetic athlete Handbook? It has a lot of good info on how to adjust for many kinds of activity. Also check out My diabetes science experiment.

    Hi Trish-

I'm a type 1 diabetic also. I was diagnosed about 15 years ago at age 9. I've always been athletic and fit - trying to figure out blood sugar during a workout is still a puzzle to me most days. Crashing during a great workout is quite possibly the most frustrating thing in my day. Unfortunately, it is a lot of trial and error. Just keep your head up and don't give up!
