Mountain bike shoes for fat feet

I almost always wear wide-width shoes (C width). I don't know why I thought regular mountain bike shoes would work. Any brands that make wide women's shoes? Or wide-ish mens?

Lake mens shoes are really wide, might be worth trying a ladies pair?

The regular ones run wide? Or the ones that say wide? These are a great price but my current shoes are 41 and they don't have that.

Shimano do some wide fit in some of their styles. In my experience Shimano shoes tend to be narrow though so the wide ones could just be normal?

I tried a pair of 'em - they're a bit wierd really - all the extra width is in the toe box rather than the mid-foot area (for high instep comfort, which is really why I need 'em) - the rest of the shoe is still narrow, and I basically still took the same size in either the wide or normals - and 2 euro sizes larger (48 as opposed to 46) than I do in the Sidi Mega's. I think they're made for people with feet like flippers

The Sidi Mega's are actually made on a wider last all the way to the heel - I seem to remember reading somewhere that they make custom lasts for the mega's that are based on a shoe 2 sizes larger and scale them to shorten them, rather than widening a standard last in certain areas.

Damn. The Sidis aren't cheap. I was hoping for less than $100.

...how many Italian Shoes ARE under $100

(frankly, the orthotics I have in my shoes cost more than a pair of Genius 6.6's... not sure if I'd stump up £186 for the Dominators just for the 'cross and MTB though...)
