Hi everyone. Going on my third week of crossfit and am really enjoying the challenge. What can I expect as the weeks progress such as milestones, etc...? I'm taking baby steps to becoming stronger and joined this group for the support and encouragement. So far just reading everyone's posts has been so motivating.

Everyone progresses at different rates so it's hard to tell you specifically what you can expect, but you should already be experiencing 'newbie gains', meaning your lifts should be getting stronger almost every session and will continue to do so for a little while yet. The movements will get easier, bodyweight movements (burpees, pull ups, etc) will feel stronger and more fluid, WODs will generally be easier and faster, etc. All good things!! And you should also start to feel less and less sore after each session over time :)

Yeah, me too. At this point I have just accepted that I am gonna be sore very day, it is just different areas which the soreness occurs. :-)

Haha maybe it's just me then.. Crossfit for 2.5 years and it's been quite some time since I got properly sore after a session. I get a little bit sore every now and then, but usually only in one muscle. Eg after 14.5 yesterday, my triceps are a little sore but everything else is a-ok.

Well Jordy, that is probably due to the fact that you are a true bad *kitten*! :drinker: :glasses:

I'm going M-W-F (even dropping in on boxes when I travel) for three weeks. Like you, I'm slowly adding load and building up my volume. My goal is to get to RX on all workouts within one year. I think a lot of people let ego derail results.

Haha well if this is true, then I'll take it. Unfortunately I keep getting in my head that if I'm not sore, it means I'm not building muscle. And no one wants that!! But then my lifts are getting stronger, so I should probably just tell myself to shut up

Definitely agree with your last point. I'm at a point now where I'm RXing probably around half of my sessions, and RX'd all of the open WODs. But to anyone starting out I'd 100% say to take it slow. I've been training for over 2 years, doing 8-9 sessions per week since last November, and am only now really at a point where I feel strong enough to RX. So. Don't rush it, take your time to feel comfortable in the movements and only increase weight when you know you can actually tackle it without risking injury!!

If you won't say it to yourself then I will say it to you...shut up Jordy!

As long as you are making progress then whether or not you are sore is irrelevant.

I agree. 4 years in and it takes a real doozie to have me hobbling around like I used to. I think my muscles are just as sore as they ever were, I've just been doing it so long that I don't recognize it as sore anymore. It's just the norm.

Thanks all. Monday I felt strong and today performance was most definitely effected, but I don't care. I'm doing it and that is all the matters. I am proud that I added 10lbs to the bar and I ran 400mm. Small gains are huge in long term. Looking forward to completing push ups and burpees! Yeah for me!

Would love some CF friends for support, knowledge and tips.

    I've added you :-)

Mainly because I REALLY want to know how you can run 400mm. That's like one stride. *tongue in cheek*
