So what the things you absolutely have to have on you in order to run? (Aside from clothes and shoes.)
My Phone and Headphones (Music and GPS)
$20-$40 (A cab in case of injury or I see the ice cream truck)
And my Road ID

My Road ID and bottle of water.
Everything else I can deal without. If I forget my GPS it isn't that big of a deal because I have pretty much memorized the distance at my favorite running areas.0 -
What is Road ID?
For me it's my phone and headphones....pretty much it!0 -
I used to HAVE to have my Garmin with me, but now I've learn to let go a little bit and just enjoy some runs without worrying about perfect pacing. I like running with music on solo tempo runs, but have also learned to just enjoy being outside. The only thing I HAVE to have with me right now is my fitbit. I use it for calorie adjustments. I'm kind of obsessed.0

Road ID is a form of identification you wear/ carry with you when you run so that if you were to, say, pass out in the middle of a trail; the medics would know who you were and would be able to access your medical history/ know who to contact/ etc. You can get an official thingy at roadid.com, or just carry something that has your info on it.0 -
My Garmin and my iPhone. I have the Road ID app on the iPhone which has all the critical info on the lock screen. I also have a Road ID wristband but forget to bring it most of the time.0

I have to have my phone or my ipod (for nike running app). That is the only thing I won't go without. I like to remember my garmin too, for accuracy, but I will run without it and just "trust" nike app if necessary. If I take my ipod, which is my preference if I remember to charge it, then I will take my headphones and listen to music, but I can run without it. I need to get a road i.d.0

Well, nothing is really required outside of my clothes and shoes, but the OCD side of me really likes running with my HRM and Garming Forerunner. I've been breaking away from that lately though, running without music or without all the gadgetry. Sometimes it's good (mentally) for me to just cut loose and remember why I enjoy running for just running - not for mileage or any other measurable metrics.0

my old HRM watch minus the strap ... watch is jus' to know the time I'm running.0

I have my Garmin so I know how far I've gone, but that is it. I don't listen to music while I run. My phone is usually in my back pocket with my keys for emergency purposes only but it never comes out.
I have been thinking lately, now my distances are getting further that I should probably bring some cash along too just in case.0 -
I didn't know about Road ID.....Thanks! I will look for the app since I have my phone with me during every run anyway :drinker:0

Road ID. Everything else I can do without. Well, I say that but I'm sure I'd break out in hives if I forgot my Garmin.0

Unless I am running on the dreadmill I must have my Garmin. I wear my RoadID about 80% of the time (100% when my wife ask). I normally wear something to cover my head to avoid burning my delicate scalp.0

MP3 player for solo runs (pretty much all of them), a drink for anything over 8 miles.
I should probably look into getting a RoadID, especially since I don't take my phone or anything else with me.0 -
Garmin, prescription running glasses. I'm bad and don't carry RoadID. But I nearly always run with friends so I'm generally covered. I wish Garmin had a road ID feature on its watches.0

If it's a shortish run (less than 7 miles), just my mp3 player, Garmin, fitbit (gadgetfest!), and some water. If it's a longer run, I'll bring my running hydrapack with a trail map, snacks, my phone, TP, and my gadgets. But, that's trailrunning, where I could be stuck for a while if I were seriously injured. I also let my husband know where I'll be, just in case.0

My GPS...and before the days of GPS, I wore a standard watch. Yupe, been at it before the dinosaurs.0

I'm curious, how are your prescription running glasses different from your regular glasses?0 -

They make him look faster. :laugh:0 -
I need that Road ID bracelet since I mostly run alone and in the early mornings. I always have my HRM and iPod with me on a run. It's more of a habit than anything else.0

Garmin, sunglasses, and a smile0

Phone, headphones, and Garmin.0

Garmin.
Yup, I'm obessed. I've skipped runs before when the dang thing wouldn't cooperate. Why run if I can't track it?0 -
I bring dog treats, dog on harness and lead, and keys to my house. That's it. Sometimes I'll bring my phone. I do really need to get a RoadID, I think.0

Running cap
HRM
Phone
Water
Hairband
My running partner/son:laugh:0 -
I guess I'm the odd one out. I literally run with nothing but the clothes on my back and feet on my shoes. My sunglasses (they are rubber tipped so they don't slide anywhere) on sunny days is a must.
I track my distance through google's pedometer so I know where to go for the distance I want to cover.
When the weather is hot, I carry a 2 liter water hydration pack And, when I am running long and need food I shove it in there as well. Or like this morning, I wanted a Cutie Nectarine in the middle of my run but didn't need a water pack, well, I shoved that sucker right into the middle of my sports bra.0
