Housework

Is anyone else finding housework as difficult to get done as it is for me? I find my physical limitations mean just getting started can be a chore for me sometimes and I soon get physically exhausted. As one example, while I am folding laundry to put it away my arms hurt so badly I have to sit and rest. Also bending over and standing again makes me dizzy. I also work full time but it's a desk job.
Anyone else having a hard time keeping on top of housework? Any tips or hints for me on how to get through it and have a decent looking home?

Perhaps as a man I shouldn't be the first to respond to this ... or more being myself and knowing my own tolerances for a mess.
I don't know your routine but I might recommend doing just a little bit each day. Granted you don't get that satisfaction of sitting back after cleaning everything and enjoying a clean room or house for a day or two before it all starts going back but you do get a perpetually clean house.
It's certainly not easy when just gathering the supplies gets you winded. Do you keep all the cleaning supplies in one place? I might recommend keeping the supplies for each task in the spot your doing the chore in (when possible). So having bathroom cleaning supplies in each bathroom, etc.
For laundry, if you need to sit. One day you will be able to do it standing but sit if you need to for the whole thing, its better then getting light headed (its another goal you can add). Put things on your lap or sit at a table and lay them down as you fold to take some of the weight off.
Granted your talking to a person who can take a great deal of mess and seems to clean only when it reaches a point where I can't stand it anymore and then I have to clean everything (i also like to pile).
As for the desk job i'm in the same situation. Their aren't a lot of options. The best thing I have found is simply setting a reminder and forcing myself to get up every hour on the hour. Because I work at home this means I get up and go up and down the stairs and refill my water bottle, spend roughly 7 min moving around. It really helps with the step count. I use a small timer app on my phone that pings or buzzes each hour. I imagine at work you can find something to do each hour to increase your steps, refilling your water bottle (i love my metal water bottle), go up and down some stairs, take the longest rout.
At some point I am thinking of switching to a desk that allows me to change it from a sitting to standing desk whenever i want, that way i can spend part of the day sitting and part of the day standing.0 -
I make a list of things I need to do, breaking them down into micro steps. Rather than 'Sweep Floor' it's "sweep living room" and "sweep hallway". That way I take breaks and it's not so overwhelming.0

YES! For me it is motivation now. I just can't get motivated to start. I can get a house clean.. I take a lot of breaks and it may take me all day, but I can do it. If I know company is coming, I will dread it for a month, take a day off from work and plan to clean house before because I let it build and build and build until it is so bad. I hate it. I usually shampoo the carpets, everything before people come over so they don't have a clue. Having a 3 yr old doesn't help. I have all these plans to go through her toys/clothes and donate them etc.. it never happens. I just can't keep up. I feel like everything is spinning out of control, the housework definitely is at the top of the list.0

I know the feeling, letting it pile up because you can't motivate yourself to clean. I get overwhelmed and I just want to hide from it all. My husband is better at it and he'll start cleaning something and not say anything to me and the guilt is enough to get me up and moving. But self motivation, it's harder, there is always something else I'd rather be doing. Procrastination sucks.0
