Mickey was an acquired taste for me.
He definitely was, but by the end you feel so bad for him. And I was so glad when he and Martha were shown together with a family. He really deserved to be happy, after everything he went through.0 -

Exactly. He just wanted to be with Rose and she just wanted to be with the Doctor. Poor guy. I really go to liking him when he was in the parallel world.0 -
Oh, Mickey. I have a very love/hate relationship with him. On the one hand, he had excellent character growth and he was a pretty amusing character, but early!Mickey annoyed the crap out of me, and my first (few) impression of him stuck with me even after he mellowed out and grew up. I didn't become fond of him until around season 4.0 -
I was just thinking earlier today how underrated Mickey is0

Yeah Micky grew on me at the end but beginning Micky was just bleh.
No love for Jackie? How about...

Stormagedon post=winner.
I also had to acquire an appreciation for Mickey.
I have to say Craig is pretty excellent.0 -
After Mickey would definitely be Martha. At least, from a fandom perspective. I'm not a huge Martha fan or anything but I seriously dislike all the animosity her character got. Honestly, I think most of it came from Rose fans (which I understand to some extent because the loss of Rose was heartbreaking (I was miserable for weeks after Doomsday) and the appearance of someone, particularly someone with feelings for the Doctor, taking her place was just not on), but the hate was seriously ridiculous. A lot of fans completely disregarded all of her accomplishments in the series simply because they were, well, butthurt.
The way the Doctor treated her in the beginning didn't help matters any, either. When I saw the series for the first time I was too upset by what happened to Rose (I get way too emotionally invested in TV shows) to feel much besides grim satisfaction that he was rebuffing her advances, but the second time around I felt totally ashamed by my initial response and I became genuinely angry that he treated her the way he did, even if I did understand why he did it.

Oh, Jackie. Jackie is one of my favorite characters for comic relief.

Personally i loved Craig. I wanted to see more episodes with him. I think they dynamic him and the doctor had was great. Also LOVED that the doctor speaks baby. "yes he like that Alfie, but personally he prefers to be called Stormageddon Dark Lord of All."0

Agreed! I love Craig! His episodes are some of the ones I've watched the most.
"I remember from last time. People got killed. People that didn't know you. I know where it's safest for me and Alfie and that's right next to you. You always win. You always survive. I can help you. I'm staying."

Here's my vote:
Seriously, loved Wilfred.
But EVERYONE loved Wilfred. My point is that Mickey tends to be completely forgotten in the big picture, and he was such an amazing character.0 -

Okay, fair. Maybe under-appreciated is the wrong term for Wilfred. Under-utilized, perhaps, as was Donna.0 -
I think that Mickey was meant to be annoying in the beginning so that we could see how much he grew as the show continued on. He was clueless and dorky, but his heart was in the right place. He was willing to give up everything for those he loved, and he learned some tough lessons along the way.0

Because:
...as you can see, I'm still really, really bitter about that.0 -
I was trying to get a friend into the first season of the new series, and it wasn't until watching the first episodes (for the umpteenth time) with her that I realized how selfish and immature he began the series as. So he became so much better a person because of the Doctor and Rose. But Jackie and Pete Tyler are both fun characters.0
