Good morning and Hurrah for Saturday! Here's today's conversation generator: what can we do to stay motivated once the initial enthusiastic stages of our new healthy lifestyles has passed? I think this is an important question for this group, because we're in this for the long haul.

I am a traveling fool again this weekend, stuck in a hotel room while hubby is at a 12-hour music fest (Rise Above Fest, which benefits suicide awareness). I shouldn't say stuck--I'll have the car, the hotel has a pool, I can play penny slots at a nearby casino--but I have no food plan at all other than to" "make good choices." Part of my brain doesn't WANT to make good choices. I want to make crappy choices! For me, the slope is so slippery... one bad carb can lead to another and another and then a full blown binge. If I can avoid the physical cravings, though, the psychological ones are easier to manage.

So how do I stay motivated and on track? I have another weigh in on Wednesday with my nutritionist... so yes , fear is a motivator, LOL. I am thinking about my sexy black boots. I am visualizing my new wetsuit for boogie boarding. I'm posting in here. ???? I remind myself that I'm fighting for my life, one craving at a time!

Oh, writing those down really helps!

What are you doing?

Drinking tea for sure. Stay strong you can totally beat this. Post here as often as you need to, I am working from home and in all day apart from seeing if I feel like a play in the rain with my son, so I can answer you so you don't feel like you are raving to yourself ;) Linger in places where there is no food, like the pool. Thanks for the idea about local hotels, there are a couple, not big ones though so I do not know if they have one, gonna check it out :)

I am so shocked at my WI today. I lost 4.4lbs! I have not had a big loss like that for a couple of years lol. Last week I put on 2.6lbs, it was my birthday and I had used that as an excuse to be lax the whole week. I was just hoping to shift that 2.6 so I could begin again from where I had gotten. Typically I lose 0.5 to 1.4lbs a week, but I usually have one week a month where hormones mess that up. So anyway I am rambling because I am soo happy with being not just back on track, but it is as if I had a small loss last week and this week too now. I stayed in my cals apart from one day, and then I only used up the cals I had 'earnt' with exercise. I also focussed really hard on keeping my fat at 30%, I find I can stay in cals but still go over in fat and I have been working on changing that. So apart from tomorrow gonna stick with that plan again this week, probably won't see that kind of loss but at least I know what to focus on.

    Great day everyone!!
My main thing is keeping y'all in my pocket. I have MFP on my phone, tablet, and computer. I feel like I'm a group when I'm going anywhere. I tell myself "Their doin it, I'm doin it!! " I prelog everything whenever possible. I plan my day so I know how it all fits together, then stick to the menu. I keep water with me at all times, I think this is very important for me!!! Proper hydration is one key to success. It curbs appetite and helps the body function properly. Before I give in to what I'm pretty sure is just a mental craving I have a cup of Hot Tea!! People will hear me speak the praises of Hot tea constantly, and that's because for me its been a life saver on many occasions. So I have both loose leaf and tea bags in my car, purse, overnight bag, and backpack. Eating new exciting foods, or finding new ways of cooking common foods. Healthy eating and choices shouldn't be boring. Our worse enemy is boredom!!!

Woohoo, Tishtash! Great news! That's a motivator for sure!

Thank you so much for the offer to answer my rantings today. Hubby is sleeping and the free breakfast ends in an hour, so I was ready to charge downstairs and eat a bunch of crappy Danish (because if no one sees you eat it... it doesn't count). Instead, I will make a better plan . Thank you for the support!

I've been on a "Walnut Brittle" kick here lately. But if you're not used to drinking flavored loose leaf go check out your tea section at the store. There are so many flavors its unbelievable, both loose and bagged. My favorite place is Della Terra - I order from them online. For me tea just cuts right through my cravings, its the combo of something hot and sweet! If you try some let us know what you tried, how you had it, and of course what ya thought. :drinker:

    WooHoo! Great choices!

Since your traveling see if they have a specialty tea shops in your area. They can be pushy so don't get talked into to much. Lol! Teavanna is known for being the pushiest!!!

Oh what a great breakfast choice, that was being strong! I am a Brit in Canada, I order from a British food store my pg tips and add a dash of milk lol. I am not adventurous with my tea at all though I see a lot of people here talking about David's teas and I am interested but not enough to blow $50!

Breakfast here was bran flakes and a cup of tea, just had a fiber one bar for a morning snack. Did not used to need a morning snack as we used to eat around 9, and then I went until 12-1 for lunch. But now son is up a lot earlier so got to plan it otherwise the munchies would get me.

Edit: Sorry I was late responding, my husband went out last night to a bar to see a friend playing music. He said he wasn't gonna drink much. He didn't come home, at first I was sure he'd just crashed at the friends, but then by 10am I was getting worried since that is when he was supposed to start work, I don't know the friends and they don't speak english so had to call MIL and ask her to call them for me in case he wasnt there and they had to explain something I couldn't get. He is fine, I am both upset and pissed. So anyway that was my unexpected stressful morning!

It's been a bad couple of days, it was a mega stressful week and I seemed to just crash at the end of it. We have some stuff going on that has me more depressed than usual too. Everything seemed to work together and I didn't want to go near a computer and my eating has been well out of whack. However, I slept a LOT today and I am feeling like the batteries are beginning to recharge. I have decided to go to bed early and get even MORE sleep and I am sure that will really help.

I have PG tips too tishtash, I had my son bring them over for me when he visited a few months ago. However, I am also getting turned on to herbal and green teas, they really are very soothing and comforting.. now to just replace craving to eat things with hot tea every time!! I will buy some new flavors tomorrow.

I want to say thank you to you all. I see the positivity here and it is also lifting me up.

Today was hard. It was graduation at my school and I should have been in the graduating class, but health issues pushed me back another semester (which has happened many, many times before!). It's hard to see all of the pictures of happy people moving on with their lives when I know I'm going to be stuck going back to a place that I don't feel I'm getting much from, just to get a piece of paper that most of the world thinks determines my value. I've been wanting to binge all day, and while I didn't make the healthiest choices, I've stayed within my calorie limit (though my macros are blown).

I'm hoping that having two folks I know in-person who I can check in with will help keep me motivated beyond this initial burst. One of them just ran a half marathon and she's encouraging me to try to train to run (or jog) a 5k this fall. It might be possible!

Weekends are so busy around here that I just havent had a lot of time to get online . Which is good and bad lol. Good because I have been out moving around more and not sitting on my rear at the computer lol, but bad because I want to have time to sit down and catch up on everyone and get to know the new people too!!

Today we went out to a U-Pick tomato farm and picked 25 pounds of tomatoes....OMG what am I going to do with all of those?!!! haha I have no clue what to do with them now  Not only that, we got a ton of other veggies,...onions, peppers of all kinds a few red potatoes to have sparingly, and OMG I got a case of spaghetti squash which I LOVE LOVE LOVE, for $5. I got home and opened the squash and about stroked out LOL . There are 17 squash in that thing!! So I am OMGing what am I going to do with all these squash AND tomatoes  On a good note, we have alot of healthy side dishes now lol. AND we got in exercise getting them too!

I am hoping things settle down some tomorrow, but i doubt it lol. If I don't get to catch up then I WILL do it Monday darn it lol . I hope you all are having active and amazing weekends so far

Fairly good day. Released some of the stress by staying within my calories but now worrying huge amounts about my macros.

I had a chocolate chip muffin for breakfast... it was delicious and i wont apologies. I bought it last night during a dangerous late night trip to the grocery store to pickup ice and a few items. I had a chocolate craving and decided on a pack of four muffins rather then a candy bar. Can't really say that was a better idea but it stopped me fro stuffing my face with something sweet. It's only abut 350cal. Enjoyed it alongside a large ripe yellow peach.

I went to the farmers market to pickup some mothers day flowers and all I can say is i'm glad I left my tote bag at home or i would have done some serious damage to my wallet their (I swear it feels like your handing a $20 to ever stall you stop at). I couldn't resist some samples of the fresh strawberries and peaches (oh to live in northern California). I left with two bunches of flowers, four fresh and ripe peaches and a cart of fresh strawberries, blackberries and raspberries. The fresh lettuce and asparagus looked tempting but i resisted. I eat fresh fruit with all my salads and last weeks fruit from the supermarket had been a huge disappointment so i jumped on the fresh ripe fruit.

For lunch I had some leftover buffalo chicken, another late night supermarket purchase. It's something I had been thinking about for a long time so I'm fine with getting it out of my system. I finished it off today so thats done and over with. For dinner i picked up a sandwich since after running errands most of the day I just wasn't interested in cooking.

Tomorrow is what I am worried about. We will be stoping by the bakery in the morning before going to the gardens and then tea service in the afternoon. I'll try not to worry about it to much, just have reasonable portions and enjoy it. I think I'll be having a nice salad for dinner.

This last week was a challenge for motivation as you will know if you read any of my posts. It was a pissy week and I had a pissy attitude throughout it. One I dealt with the stress that was bringing it on I was able to get back to where I needed to be. I let myself contemplate giving up and could see nothing it it. Give up something that has been relatively easy so far for hating yourself and being back in the same position, what a choice!

OMG Im so jealous.!!! You can successfully freeze all of that. I love frozen tomatoes and during the cooler winter months they are awesome in soups and chili. I usta freeze 5 bushel or so of tomatoes every year. It's way less work and less time consuming than canning them.

    GOOD LUCK!!
