Morning everyone. The stats are telling me that I really didn't go over my sodium levels yesterday but my face and the scales are saying something very different. I have gained all I had lost and then some and my face was very swollen this morning.. sigh. I am so tired of fighting to lose weight and it comes down only to rise again just as fast and I am tracking! I guess I will put it down to eating out a few times last week and carry on.. I am feeling determined.. and I have my mixed fruit tea at the ready! I am armed for battle!

Julie, it is so frustrating, isn't it? Just keep in mind that it is just water weight and it will come off again. and probably pretty quickly. So try not to let it get you too down. :flowerforyou:

Thanks for getting us started, Julie. Sorry to hear you are puffy today, but water weight isn't real weight! I can gain and lose ten pounds in a day when my legs swell. Doing very low carb (basically just protein, veggies, and some fruit) always helps me drop the water.

Tomorrow I have a weigh-in with my nutritionist, and I'm already freaking out. I need to just get on my own scale and see how much damage I did over the weekend. Face the music, right? Hopefully I will get into the pool tonight for laps and aquasize. I missed yesterday because of the rash from hell--lots b of benadryl is helping!

Oh, and here's today's comment trigger:

DO YOU LOVE YOURSELF? NAME THREE REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD.

I love myself because I am a wonderful second mom to my neighbor's little boy. I love myself because I am a good listener. I love myself because I am a talented artist.

Whew... that was really hard!!! Almost every reason I could think of had something to do with service to others (doing) rather than just being.

@julieworley376 Are you drinking enough water? I know that my weight fluctuates so much when I don't get enough. Calculation for how much water is: weight in pounds divided in half, drink that many ounces daily for proper organ function and removing toxins, such as sodium from your body. I know that my body likes some types of sodium and can't tolerate others. Maybe this is the case with you as well.... Water calculation for me: 260/2 = 130/8 (ounces in a cup = 16.25 OR 130/16.9 (size of my favorite water bottle) = 7.75 (roughly)... So I need 16.25 cups or just shy of 8 water bottles DAILY as a MINIMUM for my body to function properly. Most days, I average 12-14 cups....and it helps me not have as much retention...

@KarenZen Three reasons I love myself: Because it makes me feel great when I lift others up in their own struggles. Because even though I didn't want to, last night I walked in place or laps in my house to hit my 10,000 steps. And finally, because I have a smile you can hear in my voice (I answer phones as part of my daily job).... (I've seen variations of these where you have to come up with three a DAY!)

    Good morning!
Great workout yesterday with Personal Trainer and Cardio...Feeling very good about that...AND stayed within my calories goal for the day..Also actually noticed what appears to be a muscle in my thigh! lol Whew!! Then got home last night and promptly tripped over my daughter's shoes and fell done the stairs, landing on top of my son's scooter at the bottom...ugh...Hurts and I am icing but will still do cardio today on a bike at the gym so I can sit.

Can't do the love myself things yet....Not ready for that...someday :)

    Have a great day everyone.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Dragged myself out of bed this morning and did my workout – 20minutes of ZUMBA Step – and I’m so glad I did!! It always feels better AFTER the fact. Now if I can only continue to keep that in mind on mornings that I would rather sleep a few extra minutes.

KnitorMiss – what you said about water is so true. I am reading more and more how we need to drink ½ our body weight in water every day. For me that would be 265/2=132.5/8=16.5 cups of water!! IF I make it to 4 cups, that’s a good day. I have a hard time drinking plain water, and got into the habit of using flavor drops. I’m cutting that out and now bring wedges of lemon or lime.

Julie – I have the same problem. For the past 6 months now, I’ve gained and lost and regained the same few pounds over and over again. Hopefully, increasing my water will help rid my body of whatever it’s holding on to.
To answer the question: DO YOU LOVE YOURSELF? NAME THREE REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD. I need to think about that one.

    Have a great day everyone!!

KnitorMiss....using your calculations I need to drink 11 cups of water....That is a lot of water for me who barely gets one bottle in a day. My problem is...I must have a small bladder because I need to pee way to much if I drink that much and I am in meetings every day and hard to get up and go to the bathroom so often!! Do you ever get over that issue if you continue to drink so much??

    Good morning, everyone!

I haven't exercised yet (as I'm more of an early afternoon exerciser), but I did start the day with a nice smoothie. I've also logged my planned meals for the rest of the day, and I'm happy to see that I still have plenty of calories left over for snacks, which I'll probably end up needing. I'm resisting the urge to look at the scale. I have a habit of trying to look every day instead of once a week, and the constant ups and downs really get to me.

@KnitOrMiss - I didn't know that about the water. I've only ever heard the 6-8 glasses thing. I calculated it for me, and that's about 18 cups a day. Wow! I better get started on that!

3 Things I Love About Myself:
1.) I'm good at answering questions without making people feel stupid for not already knowing (useful skill for a future teacher!).
    2.) I'm intelligent.
3.) People know they can rely on me to get things done.

    Good afternoon, folks!

I'm feeling much better today! Actually, I was feeling better yesterday after walking home. I walked an extra block over to get to the park where the hill is a lot steeper and I definitely felt it walking up all those steps.

claudie08, I should follow your lead and get up early to exercise! I just hate getting out of bed in the mornings. It's just so comfortable...

Three reasons I should love myself: I keep trying. I've surrounded myself with wonderful people. I'm generally a very helpful person.

KnitorMiss.. the water.. wow.. I calculated I need NINE 16.9 oz bottles of water if I have it right.. and I am proud of myself if I drink FOUR a day. Of course I do drink 0mg anything in it soda and coffee and tea too and that water does count. However, I have been a bit lax on the water front of late and haven't even been drinking my four if I am honest about it. You made me pick the water bottle right up and what did I taste as I drank? Uh huh salt!

And.. while I am at it because I think you missed my late comment yesterday.. a victory. It was a tense and stressful day and I WANTED chocolate, to the point that the vending machine trip was moments away when I remembered one of you suggested flavored tea. I made some. Guess what? NO chocolate! YAAYYY. It worked, I don't know how or why.. but it worked. Today I have my Mixed Fruit tea with me.. I am armed for battle.

    Hi Everyone.
WOW the water thing is great - I know I dont drink that much but I am going to up it - thanks for the tip. I need to drink 14 8oz cups - geezzz
I lost 2 lbs but I havent given up anything - I am still eating anything I want and I have to stop - I make some good choices and then I eat candy or cake - and Im going to a wedding this weekend in CT and Ill be gone 4 days...just want to eat well and not gained anything.
I really need to give up some stuff...just for a while...sugar and some carbs. - Its so expensive to eat healthy! - Fruits and veggies and protiens cost so much - pasta is so cheap - but even WHole WHeat pasta too much is too much

I worked out 2 days last week and I havent yet this week - I went to CHer concert last night so I guess jumping up and down may count for something. LOL

Keep up the great work everyone!!!!!!

Hi all, late checking in today, woke up with a terrible migraine, had to let DH take DS to school while i spent pretty much the whole day in bed. Managed to get in some very light walking though still.

Three things I love about myself - The joy I get from reading and that I am passing that on to my son.
I respect people, I have never judged anyone based on skin color, religion, sexuality etc.
After 20 months of being back on the losing weight ladder I am still here, I have never stuck to it as
    long as this.

Checking in this afternoon. Mowed the grass, did weedeating and some gardening. Several hours worth of work. Had a banana and an apple for breakfast, then broke down and ate some Mothers Day cookies. Need to get back outside with a weedeater in my hand, can't eat while weedeating. LOL

Three reasons why I love myself

    1. I look on the sunny side.
    2. I am self-reliant
    3. I am intelligent

I love these daily check-in threads, reading about what everyone is doing. Oh, there's Rat going off for his night-time walk! There's Julie drinking the hot tea that Sandy suggested. Where's Claudie? She was supposed to come up with three loves.

These last two days have been hard for me. Whatever rash/allergic reaction I had blew up into a miserable, itchy rash that started in the insides of my elbows and spread to stomach, thighs, upper arms, and back. Itchy rash means no swimming, no swimming means no cardio means fluid buildup in my legs and debilitating joint and back pain. Today I just gave up even imagining being productive at 4 p.m., nuked myself with benadryl and have been in bed since.

Hubby cleaned the kitchen and vacuumed... more and more of the housework has fallen on him in the past few years, which I feel terrible about. I hate being a burden.

Oh, barrel of laughs tonight! Tomorrow MUST be better!

    Hi Karen,

    Sorry your not feeling well.

I hardly doubt your a burden, not one he minds. So don't feel terrible, you would do the same for him. Your working on it one day at a time and soon enough you'll be out vacuuming him and back to those chores we all love so much :)
