Why are you worth it?

I am a busy wife, mother and professional and I spend a lot of time pouring into others. Most time, I neglect myself. I don't get enough sleep. I'll drive to a fast food restaurant and order something not good for me because I'm in between soccer practice and guitar lessons for my little girl. When I'm sick, I keep going because I feel guilty about stopping. I always find time doing for my family, but I don't always do for myself.

Why is that I wonder? It's in my DNA...I come from a generation of women who gave their all to their families but with a cost. My mother passed away at the tender age of 44. I remember how she would go to work very sick; refusing to take a sick day. She was diabetic, but still loved her quick Snickers when running us to and there. She loved on us greatly, but didn't love on herself.

Well, beginning June 16th, I'm breaking that cycle! I will dedicate 100 days to working on me. Hopefully, this will become a habit and I will continue after the 100th day.

I am taking on this challenge because I am worth it. The face that I see in the mirror deserves a healthy and a strong heart. I deserve not feeling sluggish, tired and just plain sick. I am worth it because I love me!

Tell me...Why are you worth it?

  • I don't take care of myself. I'm not it the worst of shape, but I work late shifts or graves, get WAY to little sleep, eat whatever is around, and walk around like a zombie most of the time.
I deserve to be treated better, especially by me. So I want to do it. It was rough when I started, being sore and stiff, but it is getting better and easier. And I feel much better, though I still can't crack the sleeping bit.

You certainly do deserve to be treated better. How much sleep do get in a normal day? How much sleep would you like to get?

I have not taken care of myself (weight wise) all my life. (I am probably the oldest in this group!). So I finally decided to take control of my weight and lose the weight, become more flexible and have more energy. I don't have kids...just cats, and I work hard all week long leading a strong team of great people. It is a huge responsibility to oversee a large group of staff, and I want to be able to keep up with them all!!! So far I have lost almost 25 pounds and I would like to lose another 30 pounds....then plastic surgeon here I come!!! lol

I m a SAHM having one 3 yr old boy. He is very active. By looking ofter him is a big task cos he is mamma's boy.

I m obese due to back pain ( caused by spinal cord disk infection 10 years back, that was cured but pain i hv to bear lifelong, taken 2yrs bedrest) can be lessen by weight loss.

i had c section which caused tail bone pain( almost cured after reducing 10lb weight in last two months).

my starting weight was 194 in mar 2014 down to 184 may 2014. i m seriously on it to reduce weight. i m always a clean and healthy eater but due to staying at home no mobility was there.

I was lecturer in college for 6 yrs. Due to delivery i became sahm. Now i m going to join a job in one month, so i deserve the weight loss and good health.

I m very sorry for long post and TMI.
Thank u for this challenge and giving motivation.

I think my fitbit averages my sleep to 3-4 hours a day. I would LOVE at least 6.

Getting enough sleep is key to losing weight and feeling better. I went through a sleepless time and my doctor worked with me to retrain my body to sleep. It was hard but I made it through and now I sleep all night. I would recommend talking to your doctor to find out if there is anything you can do to retrain yourself..

much the same here... i've been a terrible sleeper since i was a kid. i have two young children, work full-time, and was putting myself last (which, by the way, i don't recommend). i want to feel my best and give myself the respect i deserve - not only to be a good role model for my daughters, and not only to be here and healthy for the people i love, but because i am worth it to myself.

Yes. You deserve that for yourself. Tears came to my eyes when you said being a role model for your daughters. Interestingly, we think of being a role model for the moral things, but our diet and how we treat ourselves should also be included. We are raising a generation of obese children; the cycle must stop with us. I read that with the current diet of our children, it is very likely that many of the parents will outlive their children. I am with you 100% with your statement.

    Just because I AM

And also, because I'll be marry October 5th, exactly 113 days to go, so it's a perfect challenge to help be the best of me in one of the happiest days of my life :blushing:

However, if we start June 16th, 100 days will end on September 23rd or something like that, wouldn't be?
