Thank you for this! I admit I've been reluctant to restrict calories while nursing.... seems like I restrict too far a lot of times and my supply dips. But the calculator says I can have about 2000. So I'll shoot for that.0

Hmm, the number it gave me is definitely too low. It says I should be eating 1776 calories (I presume that doesn't include weight loss). I was eating 1900 until last week, when I upped it because I was losing weight too quickly (more than a pound a week, when I was aiming for half a pound).0

I had the same question (though my number seemed fine), then read the text below the number. The text explaining the formula notes that it calculated TDEE, added additional calories to account for breastfeeding, then reduced by 15% to get the number it produced, which is what someone seeking to steadily lose the weight gained during pregnancy should aim for (that was a loose paraphrase). Of course, your actual experience was that 1776 is far too low for you anyway, but at least the 1776 does account for weight loss. (Which I suppose makes sense, as 20% typically nets a 2lb/week loss, so 15% should yield 1.5/week, which is, obviously, more than what you were targeting.)0 -
Also...it never asked age of baby, how many feedings, if baby is also on solids etc..wouldn't this contribute to how many calories0

Ok, I didn't see that. I think I might lose more than 1.5 pounds at that number, but not significantly more. I just don't have enough extra weight to safely lose that quickly.
Hopefully, no matter how you calculate your calories, you'll use it as a starting point and adjust from there if you lose too quickly, too slowly, or your supply is affected. (General "you.")0
