March VSGer here

hey everyone! Had my Sleeve done in march 2014. Have had amazing success. HW 347 SW 326 CW 263. Am really just looking for others who are going down same road as I am. I know i am not "taking the easy way out" but when dealing with those who have not had the surgery they are always making comments that seem so...judgemental to me. (oh YOU lost x amount this week and did nothing meanwhile i starved myself blah blah blah). I get where they are coming from, I do. I've been there. But I also want to share my success and troubles and everything in between with those who know what it's like. All the emotions of having a sleeve. I also want to see what others VSGers are doing, their success, diets etc.

I had the sleeve done 5/5/14. I've run into a few people who think I've taken the easy way out, too. I used to be one of those people. So I guess for me the best thing I can offer is to educate people. If you're talking with a friend or family member take the time to educate them on what you've been through and what you're going through now. I have found that to be the best way to handle the opinions of others. Of course, there are those who will not be swayed. I've had to realize that's not MY problem. All of us here know this is not the easy way out!

    Keep moving forward.

I had my surgery March 17th I've lost close to 60lbs. I've been very fortunate that I haven't had a lot of people say anything directly to me about taking the easy way out but I'm well prepared to answer to that should someone say something. Having major surgery and cutting out 80% of your stomach is not the easy way out. Only being able to consume 3oz of a food during a 30 minute time frame is not the easy way out. Having to coordinate your drinking and eating so they are 30 minutes apart is not the easy way out. In order to be successful it takes a lot of commitment. There are so many other things we will have to deal with for our lifetimes this by no means was the easy way out. The ultimate goal is to lose weight and be healthy as long as you get there I dont think it really matters how.

March 6th for me. 72 lb down. Really happy.
Rarely do people ask me 'how' I have done it,,but today someone did.
I answered truthfully. This is how it went. Friend : " You have lost a lot of weight!" I agreed.
They asked "What are you doing?" I replied "I had surgery in March as it had just gotten too hard to lose the weight"
They then said,,"Really? Are you happy?" Over the moon was my reply. That was the end of that conversation. They had not seen me since before the surgery. But they had also seen me struggle over the years.
I feel privileged to have been in a position to have this surgery so I know that others may feel a bit jealous about not having it or they may make a choice not to. Either way,,,my life is much more important than their egos.

I've encountered some that are very supportive and have actually looked into surgery themselves. My family is extremely supportive and for that I couldn't be more thankful. When I decided to have this surgery my biggest fear was that the people who are most important to me wouldn't understand. Thankfully, I was wrong.
However, Just the other day I saw an old friend, who asked me about it, and when i explained how I am losing the weight her response was hope you don't die. Apparently, she had another fried die after having a major heart attack at 34. I guess the doctors told her that losing 140+ lbs in one year was to much stress and her body couldn't take any more. Now I understand that while some people have complications, not all do. But hearing something that definitely scares the s**t out of me.
But I do agree....this is not the easy way out. For me, it was a last resort.

Hello! I had surgery on March 24th. I chose not to tell anyone about the surgery because I knew my co-workers and acquaintances would not be understanding. SW: 237 CW: 172.2
