Good morning, duckies!

I only have one eye open but decided to get things rolling in here anyway. Yesterday was big doings at my house--the daughters of my friend Chris (they are my "adopted" nieces) threw a surprised combined birthday party for Chris and I (we both turned 50, so it was a centennial party). They brought all kinds of healthy food and even had the cupcake lady make gluten f ree/sugar free cupcakes! In keeping with my decision to just enjoy, I put on my tiara and relaxed and just took care of my own needs. Wow. That was. Awesome.

Today the girls will return so I can introduce the younger one to my all time favorite former student. Please keep fingers crossed that love blooms between them... I really want him in the family!!!

Oh, obesity talk... why am I here?

My goal today is to eat in my calorie range, get exercise, and get some writing done. I need to finish and mail a newsletter for the lake association but also work on my bigfoot erotica. Jim says, "just don't mix up the files" Hahahahaaa.

I hope you all have great days too!

    ????????????

HahAha. You should mix up the files, that would shake thing up around the nice quiet lake side community! It also might get you labeled as a nut Jun...so umm...maybe not. Lol. I love that you are playing matchmaker and that you did get your party and it was stress free, or at least it sounds like you had a good time!

I have so much to do today. I really news 12 hours more in the day. Mostly housework but I would like to get some swim time in too. Seems like thay kind if wipes us all out tho. It's such a production and we all need naps when we get back. My husband only.likes to go in the mornings when the pool isn't busy. So my goal today is to do that and NOT come home and crash for the rest of the day. Way too much needs to get done around here. Even though I've been up since 4. EEk!

    morning ladies!

Karen, sounds like you had a good time at your party! We have a cookout here today at my house for my husbands side of the family. I am hoping that I can just put things out and then let loose and not worry about trying to "please" everyone. I just want to get through it without too much damage to my eating!!

Heather, I am already looking forward to pool time to help with above said cookout, but I will wait til everyone leaves and I have the pool to myself...or at least just me and my kids. My husband always complains (nags) about having the pool, but to me it is worth it! I love not having to pack the kids up to go anywhere and I am comfy in my own pool vs someone elses. And even then I won't go out in a bathing suit in front of his family. Oh well! I will get there someday.

I survived yesterdays BBQ and I know I can survive this one too. I was trying not to eat breakfast so that I could eat more for lunch but I was so hungry I just had a protein bar so that I wouldn't go apesh*t crazy when the cookout starts!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning, folks! Karen, I'm so proud of you for sitting back and focusing on your own needs. That's seriously wonderful. Heather, I hope the pool time is lovely! Diana, best of luck with your BBQ today and I hope you get to enjoy your pool time afterwards, too.

I've had a nice weekend so far. Yesterday morning, I went out and got properly fitted for running shoes and bought some fancypants socks, too. I haven't been running in them yet, but we took a long walk and they were great for that. After the running store, Ben and I went down to the National Mall for the Folklife festival, which is a Smithsonian event that highlights a couple of different cultures/regions/countries each year. This year is Kenya and China, so we saw a lot of beautiful and interesting crafts, dancing, and food. It's always worth a visit! Sadly, the food was mostly sold out so we ended up going for afternoon tea instead, which meant tons of sugar for me. Eeps. I'm so bad about keeping my macros in line. I've gotta get better about that.

One fun thing: went to Target today and bought a cute dress... in XL! I don't remember the last time I fit anything XL. I know their sizes are big, but whatever, I'm taking it :)

Now I'm off to the gym while Ben watches soccer. I went to the barbell section of the gym on Friday and was shaking like a leaf, so I couldn't really do much. My attempt at a squat was hilariously sad. I thiiiiink I did okay with dead lifts (95lbs!) but I could really use a buddy to check my form. Besides the nervous shaking, I think my main problem with squats was balance. Maybe I should check out yoga to get better with that? I wish I weren't so nervous over there. I think it'll just take time.

Everyone sounds in great form for the weekend!! Swimming, lifting weights, wonderful BBQ's.....family and friends and even a matchmaker (can't wait to hear how that works out!) And you all are having some wonderful weather to 'play' in!! It was 113 today and getting hotter! Ouch...but it was nice walking to work (just about 10 minutes walk) early this morning....took a car this afternoon....way to hot!! Everyone have a great day and enjoy your family and friends!!! Cheers!

How awesome Karen that you let yourself enjoy your party and not be all stressed out! I bet it felt fantastic. Keeping my fingers crossed for a love connection, hehe.

Heather, I'm the same way when I go swimming. I think it has to be something about being out in the sun. It's just draining. I was going to go swimming today and still might if Mother Nature can make up her mind whether it's going to rain or not. I don't want to go through the whole production of getting ready and get to the pool and have it rain. When you're done with your house you can come do mine, lmao. I need to clean but just haven't found the umph yet.

Dianna, hope you are enjoying your company and not stressing about pleasing everyone. I'm with you on the whole private pool thing. We have two pools in our complex. There is the big one over across the street on the main side of the complex that everyone uses. I won't swim in that one. Now the little one on our side of the street that most people don't know about, that's a different story. There's hardly ever anyone in it except for people from one of the few building on our side of the street and for whatever reason I don't mind being in my swimsuit with them. I guess it's because I know most of them. I don't think I've ever seen more than 5 people in our pool at a time vs the 50 people in the big pool. I'll stick with my little one.

Norah, whooohooo fancy new shoes and socks and an XL dress too. You are doing awesome. That festival sounds like something that would be so fun to see and I'm sure there was a lot of walking involved. Double win. I'm sure with time your confidence will build with the weights and you feel more at ease. The yoga probably isn't a bad idea when it comes to the balance issue. I know it helps me when I'm doing it.

Catlady (sorry, for the life of me I can't remember your name), 113!!!!! Oh my heavens!! I would say it was too hot for walking. Glad you got one in before it got too hot. Aren't you coming home for a visit soon?

This morning I got up early (a miraculous feat for me on a Sunday morning) and went to church with a dear neighbor friend of mine. It felt really good to be back in church. I didn't realize how much I missed it. I grew up in a small church and her church reminded me so much of that. I think I may have found a new church. They did have a dinner fellowship afterwards that I wasn't prepared for but I made the best of it. Looked everything over and found the items that appeared to be the most filling for the fewest calories. Logging it wasn't easy since I didn't make any of it but I did my best. Did a pretty good job calorie wise too. Even passed up the most delicious looking dessert which I was pretty proud of. I stuck with the watermelon.

My baby (he may be 16 but will always be my baby) left with my brother last night. He goes every summer to spend a month with my brother and has since he was about 5. This is his last summer though. Next summer I have informed him that he has to get a job. He will be between his junior and senior year of high school and he really needs some job experience before he graduates. So for the next month it's going to be very quiet around here. Should save on the food and electric bill though, lol.

Not doing a whole lot for the rest of the day. Just hanging around the house and maybe going swimming. Lazy Sunday. Oh forgot to tell you all, talked with my mom this morning and guess what she's giving me for my birthday? She's going to pay for a one hour massage and take me there so I don't have to ride the bus. I love massages and so very rarely ever get one. She was going to get me one of those Soda Streamers where you can make your own soda but she ran it past me last weekend to make sure I wanted one. I'm so glad she did because it would have been a waste of money. I haven't had a soda since November of 2005. I'm not allowed to have the carbonation because of my gastric bypass. I have had a sip or two and it is just downright painful. But I will LOVE that massage.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!!

You all sound like you're having a great weekend!

We've had a busy one but the weather has been cooler so we've been able to enjoy the sunshine and showers :)

On Saturday, we walked to our local supermarket rather than driving (something that we are doing more of now!). We got home and cleaned up and I didn't sleep in the afternoon! SUCCESS!

Today, I went back to church after months of not being there and it was great to see everyone :) I've tried to stay active for the rest of the day but i'm feeling a bit disappointed with my calorie intake. I can't seem to break-out of this funk i'm in. Since the sun has come out and now all our meals come with salad, I feel RAVENOUS! Trying to get out of it and exercise more.

On Friday, I finally found some sun-dresses! After about 3 years of searching for pretty and affordable dresses for summer, I now have 2 and they are a size smaller than I thought they'd be! Very pleased :)

I hope you all have a happy Monday and a good start to next week!

omg, I am soooo full. I ate more than I wanted but still feel ok about the day because I got a good swim in. Wait. I should rephrase that. I ate more than I should, but I enjoyed every bite!!! I knew what I was doing with each bite and I was ok with it. I wanted it. I ate it. I am owning it. The chocolate lasagna was over the top but guess what...it was sooooooo worth it! :blushing:

Glad the BBQ's are over for awhile though. Back to good choices tomorrow and hopefully hubby will finish off the lasagna before he goes to bed!

    Night!!

Well, plan to not crash and stay busy definitely accomplished. Friends ended up coming over and going to the pool with us then we went out to lunch. As soon as we got home I started on the mounds of laundry when another friend called and asked me to watch her boys. So, 4 hrs later...they were still here, laundry still going and oops...I still haven't eaten today. I didn't eat at lunch because I had a bad binge last night and I just wasn't hungry but I did have a drink. Now it is 10pm. Gotta get up early. Eek. We had such a great weekend with friends tho. Sounds like everyone else did too! So so glad to hear it!

Diana - thrilled to hear how much you're owning decisions and rocking every bit of them!

All: Can't believe how much y'all all do on the weekends. My guy and I really don't have a social circle, so most of our weekends are at home, just recuperating from the week before and planning for the upcoming one! I got tired just reading all the escapades!

    Hugs,
    Carly
