Confession and feeling guilty for feeling this way

At 33 weeks (now 35) I was told to stop working out & I selfishly miss it:-(

It's 3:30 A.M. and I'm wide awake ready to do my workout! It's hard.

And I must confess - I'm selfishly worried about my weight gain these last 4-5 weeks because I can't workout. Ugh!

I know baby is more important:-) it's just how I'm feeling subconsciously.

Who was on bed rest or told take it easy!? How'd you stay sane?

Oh, and what was/is your caloric intake?

    I've no experience of bed rest or taking it easy in pregnancy, but luckily I had no issues.

    Can't you go for a walk? That's exercise, but without a huge burn.

    I can understand how you feel, but I remember you've said you've hardly gained anything, so even if you do gain a bit now, it'll come off easily, plus remember you do have to gain for your baby. They put on about half a pound a week now don't they?

    I don't think it's selfish, I think most women worry about weight gain. I hated waiting til my 6 week check to work out again.

    Yes, you are correct. As of 33 weeks, I had gained 9 lbs so yes, I should gain and that is why I am not allowed to exercise now. It's just hard to change !!!

    Oh and she said no extra activity other than my daily physical activity required to live my life

    I would definitely listen to the Dr, I know you mentioned baby is at risk for being growth restricted. I wouldnt risk it. My SIL child was growth restricted and hes 4yrs old now. He was insanely skinny and still is, YOu can feel bones threw his clothes. I know she takes well care of her kids and they are well fed, but she did "diet" during her pregnancy and also while breastfeeding she refused to supplement with formula even thou she constantly complained about having very bad milk supply. I know she feeds her kids a lot of high fat stuff in hopes they will tone out. 9lbs is NOTHING at 33weeks, I would defiently hide the scale the remainder of your pregnancy. Its one to thing to be concerned out gaining weight and another thing to be obsessed. I was OBSESSED with the scale my last pregnancy, this time around I am more laxed about it because I know I can lose the weight. I've lost it 2x beforehand. It is HARD work, but it sounds like youre dedicated to working out so you will quickly lose it after you start working out. TAke it easy momma. It will be only 7weeks and then you can get back to your old routine.

    Thanks sweetie! You're most def. right. I need to accept and chill. I mean, ****, I have 30+ days to go! LOL. I find it crazy how difficult it is to train your mind to think a different way, you know? I am by no means trying to diet or hurt Jayden (baby boy :-) but I naturally eat the way I eat and workout really hard, so being told to STOP is hard.

    I am definitely trying and really love having these boards as a basis of support. It is hard when some women on other sites are really judgemental and flat out RUDE/MEAN. I mean, I can take constructive criticism but . . . I really like this website because I found a lot of women with the same "struggles". LOL - That was totally off topic!

    Try to remember weight gain doesn't always mean fat gain. Here's an average for pregnancy weight gain.


    7 - 9 pounds of baby
    2 pounds of placenta
    2 pounds of amniotic fluid
    4 - 5 pounds of increased blood volume
    2 pounds uterine enlargement
    3 - 4 pounds of fluid in maternal tissue
    1 pound of breast enlargement to prepare for breastfeeding

    Any remaining pounds are a general deposit of fat required by the body for breastfeeding and energy stores

I find it crazy how difficult it is to train your mind to think a different way, you know? I am by no means trying to diet or hurt Jayden (baby boy :-) but I naturally eat the way I eat and workout really hard, so being told to STOP is hard.

    Ah I totally hear ya. I was no where near extreme with my last pregnancy, I used to workout daily and count calories. I got a lot of rude comments, but I still gained a healthy 34lbs (I started off really thin around 123lbs) and had a 7lb 6oz baby. I used to get aggravated cause the people who made comments were the people who ate junk all day and ended up with 60-70lb and would complain cause they didn't.know why they gaining.so fast and when you would point out, theyd be like, well I always ate like this so it shouldn't matter.. Their food diaries made me.cringe, fast food for breakfast lunch and dinner. I'm human, I eat take out every now and then, but trying to balance it out.
    I say since you do naturally eat healthy then just don't worry about calories. I was obsessed with calories up until 3months ago.I completely quit logging. It was the biggest relief. It was too much of an idol in my life, I was tracking food for the past 3yrs. It was soo hard to stop, but a great choice. And wow 30 more days for you? That's awesome. I bet you're excited. Looking forward to hearing about it all :)

    just wanted to point out to you that if you end up gaining under 15 lbs by the time you give birth, not only will you lose it all right away but you most likely end up weighing less than your pre-preg weight.

    I was on bedrest with #1 & ate fast food & cereal the whole time & only gained 34lbs.

    I'm 10 weeks pregnant with #2, have gained 2-3lbs & do prenatal cardio & Pilates a few days a week. I'm 5'1" & eat 2100+ calories a day.

    My first daughter was a preemie & still struggles with gaining weight. My high risk dr wants me to gain 33lbs & I fully intend on listening to her. Hang in there.
