I just finished binge watching Sword Art Online. This is on the heels of getting completely caught up with Attack on Titian. I am currently moving onto No Game No Life.

Just curious as to what your favorite enemy is and why.

I am bit behind on any newer stuff because I have fallen in love with live-action Asian dramas over the past few years. Some of my favorite anime shows are Inuyasha, Death Note, Ouran High School Host Club, Romeo x Juliet, Sailor Moon, Hana Yori Dango, Ranma 1/2, Red Garden, and Elfen Lied.

    Fantasy: Escaflowne
    Mecha: Detonator Orgun
    Comedy: Full Metal Panic Fumoffu

Neon genesis evangelion, cause neon genesis evangelion :)

Mostly old school stuff, but I do like new stuff too.

Ninja Scroll - now that is a messed up storyline :)

I always liked Vampire Hunter D and Dominion Tank Police. Anything with Mecha in it as well - Patlabor 1 and 2 were awesome and I've liked all of the Appleseed movies. I believe there's a new one in production too at the minute (always fancied a cosplay of Deunan and Briareos.

On a side note as bad as some are, some of the live action transitions are ok for a watch like the Guyver series and Gunhead.

I need to check some of these out on Netflix ^.^

That being said I just finished watching Girls Bravo & Sekirei but my favorite of all would have to be Trigun.

I got a model kit of patlabor from a local hobby shop years before anime was a thing, it blew my mind! GUYVER!! I wish they finished bringing over the original anime. Anybody see Guyver Out Of Control?

Ninja Scroll, messed up? Have you seen Wicked City? That'll leave you speachless, lol.

Appleseed Alpha is out on July 22nd. Appleseed Ex Machina was beautiful!

The only anime I have watched recently (read past 3 years >.>) is Attack on Titan, which I loved.

My over all favorites have been Rorouni Kenshin, Mushishi and Wolf's Rain.

I think the Kenshin manga was better though.
  • Sailor Moon (love that it's back; oh the nostalgia!!), Ranma 1/2, Gundam Wing, R. Kenshin/Samurai X, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa, High School of the Dead, DB/DBZ, Rayearth, Outlaw Star..........and I could just keep going!!!! :D

I'm totally behind on the times there. I've been watching the new Sailor Moon on Hulu though, just because.

Thanks! I am getting great ideas for new anime!!

Just heard they are going to do a Live Action adaptation of Death Note. That should be interesting.

    Right now my tops are....

Sword Art Online II (Story 9/10 Art 7/10)
Black Bullet (Story 7/10 Art 9/10)
Attack on Titan (Story 10/10 Art 9/10)

All of those fall in the must see... Wonderfully written with great story lines and art. (Jim rating included)

I am also going back and watching the classic ... Cowboy Bebop. Spike is the man.

So, oddly, Anime is a bit of motivation for me to keep at MFP and lose weight. I'd like to cosplay someday. I don't want to be limited to Totoro or E. Honda (Street Fighter).

black bullet i havent seen whats the story line on it?

A near future, where humans have been defeated by the viral parasites named Gastrea. The Gastrea aren't microscopic, they are enormous. Humans have been exiled into a small territory and live in despair, side-by-side in terror.

In this world trapped in darkness—

Rentaro, a young man living near Tokyo and member of the "Civil Security"—an organization specializing in fighting against the Gastrea—is used to accomplishing dangerous tasks. His partner is Enju, a precocious young girl. They fight thanks to their peculiar powers until one day, when they receive a special assignment from the government. This top secret mission is to prevent the destruction of Tokyo...

    Set in a near future.

I wish the description did it justice. It's a good show.

I've also fallen a bit out of synch with watching regular anime, though I'm currently blasting through Attack on Titan, which is enjoyable. Ultimate faves will have to be:

    - Full Metal Alchemist. Brotherhood is the better version by far, but I loved the original too, especially for the first part of the story (just more impactful)
    - Gungrave
    - Trigun
    - Cowboy Bebop
    - Hellsing

There's so, so many others I love too, but they're the classics for me! I agree with Rurouni Kenshin - but for the manga only, not the anime (same with Saiyuki).

We should have a recommendations thread :) Oh and Death Note Live Action has been out for ages, part 1 & 2. They're... not good imo. Can't wait to see the Rurouni Kenshin Live Action though!

We should have a competition to see how many Anime/Manga are based on a post apocalyptic utopia/dystopia world

    I like Hellsing.

Also Bleach (though I admit to losing interest after the first 100), Naruto (same about losing interest after the first 100), Full Metal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop.

I think I just lost geek cred.

I don't like anime mostly, but I do have a few I like.

Loved Samurai Champloo, Wolf's Rain, Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Alchemist.

Recently, I really enjoyed Noragami- on Netflix.
