Support to run 5K

Hello all, I'm new to the group. I'm turning 40 shortly and have really been letting myself over indulge and exercise less. I have no one in my area to exercise with to stay motivated so I'm reaching out here.
I want to be able to run a 5K in the fall. I haven't chosen a specific one just yet but there are several in the area. I'm not a strong runner, averaging 12 minute miles.
I'm looking at Runner's World for 5K plans and I would eventually like to run it in under 33 min, making it about 11 min miles. Of course I'd like to go faster, but I wanted to be realistic.
Does anyone have any training plans that they'd like to share that work well? I can run daily, but it's the cross training that I know needs to go along with it to really improve my fitness level. Swimming isn't an option, and I don't belong to a gym right now so no biking either.
If anyone has a similar goal or would like to start with me maybe we could support each other.

i've heard great things about the couch to 5k app (it's free). it's supposed to work on incrementally increasing your distances and times. i haven't personally used it, nor have i tried to run that far. i currently also average 12 minute miles lol.0

Couch to 5Kis a great app- I did my first one on January 1st and it dos get addicting. Just keep one thing in mind-- You only have to compete against yourself (hardest lesson I had to learn). Just go and have fun-- Good luck and let us know how it goes.0

C25K is what I used too. It's a great app. It takes the thinking out of it. I even use it to get back into training when I've taken some time off from running.
Good Luck!0 -
How did the fall training go? C25K is a great program but be careful. I started with a 5k and now love running (altho I love eating more).0
