Conceiving without Meds

Hello, my name is Chavon. I've recently been diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance. I've only had two periods in the last 12 months, and thats only because I was given progesterone. I got married 7 months ago and my husband and I would like to start a family. My question is, has anyone been able to conceive without metformin, clomid, etc.? As anyone been able to regulate their cycles with just diet and exercise alone?

I did the first time - with my daughter we tried for a year and I got pregnant without meds but my bloodwork at the time was showing that I was only "borderline" - in fact, not even enough to diagnose me with PCOS. With my son, I did need Metformin. With my daughter, I was having cycles every 6-8 weeks without meds. With my son, I was not having any cycles without meds. And I weighed less than I did when conceiving my daughter. I think age plays a part (they are seven years apart - so first time trying to conceive I was in my late 20s, second time I was in my mid 30s). Good luck!0

I did my son, I had gotten under 200 lbs and it just happened. When I had my daughter I had been on Met for quite awhile and then stopped. I was again under 200 lbs and BAM super suprise pregnancy. If you are IR you are going to have a very hard time loosing weight with out taking something to regulate that.

My Son was without anything, but that was also prior to my diagnosis and I conceived directly after getting of BC. I was able to conceive without for my last pregnancy but lost it at 9 weeks. My hubby and I have been trying for 2 years now and recently just did round 1 with clomid and Metformin. What's the reason you don't want to use medication?0

Yes. When I say yes, I didn't *use* Metformin for fertility. I use Metformin XR to stay alive. I'll post my success story so that it better explains it. My PCOS is so severe that I take Metformin XR and Byetta daily. I will most likely take this until the day I die, so I didn't take it to get pregnant, but I was on both drugs when I got pregnant, and continued to take both medications from day one of my pregnancy until the day I delivered my daughter at 38 1/2 weeks. She was born with no ill-affects or defects from either medication.
