What do you think about a challenge?

Hey MyFitnessPal Friends!
I think it is about time we have a challenge over here in our growing group. What do you guys think about a challenge where we check into a post called "August Check-In Challenge?"

I'm getting this idea from Howie's very motivational weekly check in topics. We still need to have those as they are perfect for a more detailed check in. But the challenge would have people give a check-in of 1 to 2 sentences at most about how they are doing or a question or anything. Comments should be limited to 1-2 sentences for this challenge as we hope to have MANY people giving brief updates or responses.

It will run EVERY DAY from Aug 1 - Aug 31st. On Sept 1st we can ask folks to post if they think they checked in every day. Those are the ones we will go through and verify. Those are our winners!

What do we win?? Very valuable bragging rights, of course! And a guest spot on a Fat2Fit HQ episode. You can decline and just give us comments if you prefer. It would be a round-table/Google Hangout of all the winners to discuss the challenge and how MFP helps us.

What do you guys think? I know it would motivate me to be on MFP more and good things come my way when I connect with you guys!!

    Tag, your it Carol!! I figure it is 2 weeks of practice before the real race LOL!!

    Match day today so I did pretty good on eating and I did a LOT of walking. I also took the dogs on a 2 miler when I got home. Tomorrow is another match in Missoula, so lots more exercise. If all goes well, maybe, just maybe, I can see a 22 in front instead of 23.. I was just 1/2lb over yesterday morning..

    I feel like I was checking in often for a couple of months and then the check in's just dwindled down to a few of us. Since it seemed like others grew bored with it, I became disenchanted or detached from it as well. Yes, I'll admit that I have a bad attitude. ;-) I think by August I will be ready for a check in challenge though. Right now I need a serious fat loss challenge. Along with my boredom came some serious fat/weight gain. As I'm writing this, I think I'm up about 10+ lbs from my lowest weight since I started on MFP. I've kept up my workouts and activities, but haven't been eating nutrient dense/real foods.

    Looks like I'm jumping back into the discussion groups just in time! I've been slacking off a lot lately. Will be hard to check in everyday since I am hoping to do a lot of camping and backpacking in August (and the mobile app doesn't let you do the community stuff even if I could manage to find a cell signal in the woods!), but will check in as often as I can. :smile:

    So how is this going to work? Are we going to start a new thread every day, every week or just one long thread for the month? I would vote to use the weekly or go to a daily thread. I think one long thread would get pretty cumbersome having to go through all the daily post to get to the bottom. I am going to practice this next week by using my weekly chat thread. lol So I will be posting in that daily just to get in the habit.

    Your point is well taken Howie! But I am trying to also consider how we are going to verify the winners. I know I will not be able to open 31 different threads to check to see if folks have one check in a day. I would say that we could go with the weekly thread but that might be confusing with our weekly chat and accountability thread. If we do one long thread, it probably isn't the place folks will look to get all of their motivation. It will just be a posting check in spot. I would hope just coming to the thread page would inspire them to look at other threads.
    That said… if ANYONE (eh um, Howie?) wants to be in charge of a spreadsheet or some way to track who is checking in, you can HAVE that job and you can do it ANY way you want. :)
