Well it is a start of a new week!! Midway thru July!! What are your plans to try and stay healthy this week???
I started off with a beautiful walk for an hour this morning, and ended up at a neighbor's house admiring his garden. Never met him before, nice chap. He told me to come over and he gave me 6 HUGE pickling cucumbers and a tomato! He told me how he makes Kosher pickles or just add some red wine vinager, sugar and whatever. I have never made a pickle in my life...but I am up for trying! Any ideas folks???
My plans for the week...well I have packed up and am 'leaving on a jet plane' (nice old song!!)...tomoro and I plan on walking a lot in airports to get my steps in, and then once home on Thursday...to return to an exercise on Friday and healthy eating routine!! I am determined to get another 20 pounds off by Xmas when I come back to AZ again!! I want to use my Zumba DVD's when I am home and back on the treadmill!!
So in a 'nutshell' I am going to walk as much as I can this week until I get 'home'!!!!!
Have a great day folks!

What a great morning adventure! Nancy, can you go for walks back in Saudi? I honestly have NO idea what life there is like, especially for a woman, and admit I am very curious.
I am slow moving this morning but have many plans. This week is all about facing obstacles head on for me. That means making a list of the heinous and just getting them done.
Foodwise, the fridge is stocked with veggies. Exercise is easy--fall into the lake. Today I track everything! And drink a lot of water.
Happy Monday all!

Morning all.
I have no idea what is happening today lol. I got a lie in which was nice and very rare. I am going to get my 1 mile walk at home dvd done as well as my yoga dvd before lunch. Then later we will do some badminton. Dean acts as our birdie boy when it is my husband and I playing. Admittedly he is up my end more than my husbands, he thinks it is hilarious when I take a good swing and miss.
May go and do some grocery shopping but might leave it till tomorrow and just chill a bit today. Dh is napping on the couch right now so I am guessing he doesnt want me to spring a ton of activity plans on him. In terms of food today I am eating less and not eating my exercise back because I am still making up for going over on Saturday. Tomorrow should be back to normal.
I am planning on losing another 25lbs by Dec31st. I really want to be at 200 or under for the new year. I have a check up at the docs in late Nov and I am looking forward to his reaction to my loss. Last time I had just maintained around 247 for 6 months as I had been struggling to stay motivated. But he had to put me on cholesterol meds and that pissed me off. When I started this it was after a health scare with my asthma and they said my bp was dangerously high so I got put on those meds too. The point was looking forward to getting taken off the meds, not being given more for something else! So anyway rant overI am hoping that by that Nov check up I will have done enough to get off one of them, or have them reduced at the least. I hate being on pills.

Good morning everyone! I had a very busy Saturday. I went over to my Grandma & Aunt Jean's apartment and cleaned. I hadn't been in a while so it was really bad. I started at 12:30 and finally finished up about 6:00 and only took one small 20 minute break to eat my lunch. It was a great calorie burner though, lol. On the way home we stopped by Walmart so that I could pick up a few things that we needed around the house. By the time I got home, I took a shower and passed out from exhaustion. Yesterday we went to church with our neighbors. After we got home and changed I finally got to my flower gardening (I had picked up the flowers Saturday at Walmart). Now I have some beautiful flowers growing on the balcony and let me tell you, the hummingbirds were pleasantly surprised, lol.
Today's plans are simple. In about a half an hour I'll be leaving to go give plasma. There's always plenty of walking involved any time I use the bus/metro system. After I get home I have to tackle my therapy homework that I have been putting off. It's not something I'm really wanting to face even though I know I really need to so I have been putting it off. But I will face those demons today, especially since therapy is tomorrow. Depending on if it's raining or not this evening, I'm hoping to get a walk in after it cools off. Starting tomorrow we are supposed to be back to highs in the 70's for a whole week. This is the second time this summer we've had this which is VERY unusual for St. Louis. I'm loving it. It makes walking so much easier and as a bonus I get to turn the AC off for a few days. Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

My only real game plan for the week is to pray my guy finds decent work (our small town does lots of part time/minimum wage stuff, and they don't want to hire someone with disabilities, they don't want to hire someone who is 41, and they don't want to hire someone with higher education because they are convinced he would quit the second something better comes along - and he is loyal as all get out, but no one gives a crap. Plus being a college town too, lots of teens and young 20's looking for part time work...market is flooded).... Gonna look for a second job too. Relieving some stress is the key to making any other progress, and it is such a struggle around here... Frustrated.
Aside from that, just going to focus on doing the things I can change.
Hugs,
Carly - newly turned 38 - planning to make this a better year - no matter what it takes to get there!0 -
Hi again, doing my mid-day check in. Salad in a pita for lunch, YUM. I cooked a pork shoulder in the crockpot last night and pulled it today, so we'll have pulled pork for supper. My first time trying this. So easy--and cheap. I think I paid $1.49 per pound for the pork. That's what I love about crockpots. You can slow cook the cheapest meats and they're so good.
Hubs is in the lake, enjoying his down day. I'm throwing on my suit in a minute to join him.
I posted yesterday about having extra bathing suits if anyone needs one and will say it again today. I pick them up on end of summer clearance, or my mom drops them off, or friends . We always have a box full so that anyone who visits can use a suit and swim. I have some nice plus size ones, sizes 20-26. I know the plus suits can be quite expensive, and I'm very happy to give some of these away to anyone in need. My mom just dropped off three suits that have shorts/skirts and matching tops, size 22 and 24, I think. I figure the universe was so good to me by letting Jim and I have our lake house, the least I can do is share some of our bounty. I'll try to post a pic later.
Carly, so good to read on other thread that your birthday was FUN! Dee, you are amazing--you just move, move, move!

Actually, Karen, I don't have a suit that currently fits. I'll send you a pm!0

Just let me know your preferences (color, style, size) and I'll let you know what I have. Heather is wearing one of my suits in Texas...She loves it! I feel like the bathing suit fairy godmother. It's awesome!0 -
I absolutely LOVE the swimsuit Karen sent me and the swim cap is so adorable! I need to take a picture in the cap. The suit pulls me in in all the right places and I swear, I look thinner. I did take a picture, but it didn't turn out like what I see in the mirror so I shall not post it.
I am back to work and barely hanging in. I STILL cannot bounce back from this crud, but it has really only been 5 days. I am just weak, dizzy, coughing all the crap that comes with a good old virus. The heat is so crazy right now. It says it's only 95, but something just makes it feel so much worse. I cannot bare to be outside for more then a couple minutes in the shade and then I start getting sick again. So, I think it is a combo of getting over whatever it is we had and just plain old Mid-July Texas heat.
For this week, my big obstacle I need to address and overcome is as usual, the night time eating. Now that I am out of sugar free jello pudding, I hope to leave my daughters animal crackers alone because they are not leaving me much calories to eat during the day.
As of this morning I am down 12 for my B-day challenge, heck, if that holds thru Friday, I will consider it a success. It's not the 15 I wanted, but pretty darn close.0
