New To MS

I'm very new to MS, just diagnosed last week and just started injections today. During the course of the year, I have lost 45 pounds...and worked really hard at this. My question I guess, is what to expect in my weight loss? My goal is 100 pounds in a year, I'm pretty much on track...does this throw a monkey wrench in my goal?...Thanks...

Hi and welcome! Sorry to hear you are starting injections, I imagine that must be hard, but good work on your weight loss so far. I will just let you know of my experience, which is that I lost all my weight after I was diagnosed with MS. I am currently pregnant so not trying to lose weight right now obviously. But in general I think what will affect you the most would be exercise (due to fatigue and overheating). Diet is the mainstay for losing weight and as long as you are motivated you can maintain that even if you aren't feeling your best.
Anyway losing weight was the best thing I could have done for my health and I think it improved my MS course too (obviously I can't prove that but I definitely believe it!). Good luck with your journey!!!

I am also new. Well, not new yet. I am still waiting to get a confirmed diagnosis. Family doc thinks it's ms but will be a couple of months to get in and see a neurologist. If it is MS, what were your courses of getting a diagnosis? I don't know anyone in my personal life with it so I feel a bit overwhelmed. Family doc hasn't treated anyone himself either (I live in a small rural isolated community) so his words were "well, it's not going to kill you" which at the time I was very glad to hear as we ruled out stroke, brain bleeds and tumours. Now, I wish I had received more information.0

Just wish I could hurry things up so I can get some Meds for these symptoms,
