Does facial hair decrease with weight loss?
When I was 22, I went from 110 pounds to 160 pounds in six months. I had graduated from college and got married- six months later a completely different person. Off the the doc to find the cause and was diagnosed with PCOS. I wasn't completely surprised at the diagnosis- I had bad acne as a teen. My dermatologist did blood work and determined a hormone imbalance as a cause of the acne. I went on birth control pills at 14 for the acne and was on them until a few months before I got married (changed jobs- no insurance) and wonder if that is what helped keep my weight down.
I didn't have problems with facial hair until the weight gain, so I'm hoping that with weight loss, the nasty hair will decrease!

My guess is it's more about age. I've had PCOS my whole life, but the facial hair thing didn't start happening until late 20's, maybe even 30.0

It is probably the birth control that kept both in check. I have lost weight, from 400 to 267 at one point, and I still have issues with facial hair. It is because we have more male hormones, hence the reason we also gain weight in our tummy area. If you could go back on birth control that would probably help, even if you go to the low cost clinic. And if you are trying to have a baby then see an endocrinologist and see about metformin. Either way see your doctor to find the options. Good luck. Don't let it get you down. Having PCOS is tough and the weight comes off slowly, but you just have to think of it as a lifestyle change. Do it now while you are young.0

I've had PCOS since I was like 13ish? I think I got facial hair a year afterwards, I was a pretty average 13 year old like 112-115lbs, went up to 130 still had it, went down to 110 still had it. I'm back at 130 and I'm 21 now, it's not going away. Unfortunately.0

Thanks for the replies!
I totally agree- lose the weight while young! I should have been more specific with my PCOS history. I'll be turning 38 in a few weeks and did the whole infertility nightmare. Those years were hell, but thankfully, I have three miracle kidsHubby and I have great jobs with insurance (no insurance was just a short time when we were first married and trying to start our careers).
Excessive weight increases insulin resistance and androgens which exacerbate PCOS symptoms like facial hair. So, in theory, less weight and androgens = less hair. I'm eight pounds away from a healthy bmi. I did lazer hair removal a couple of years ago, but the hair growth has returned
Right now, my frustrations with PCOS pretty much are facial hair and slow weight loss. I'm hoping someone had success with less facial hair after weight loss. A girl can dream... lol0
