Stress!!!

Lately, work has been really stressful for me (more stressful than usual). I think that stress hits me a bit harder now that I am post-op. I feel more tired, less refreshed in the morning, and dealing with that difficult person in the office actually makes me queasy (and makes eating harder).
Maybe I am more confident too, because suddenly, I'm done. Just done.
I am no longer willing to tolerate my working situation, and have decided to do something about it.
So, I sent out three resumes last week. I have an interview this week (the call came gratifyingly quickly). Last week, a headhunter I worked with previously called me, out of the blue, about a fantastic job opportunity, which is double my current salary, and about 20 minutes closer to home. It couldn't have come at a better time.
It feels good. Even if it doesn't go anywhere, it feels good to be doing something about my situation, or at least putting my toes in the water. It is empowering.
I need to achieve some sort of balance. I am never going to be a Zen master, but I have to try. Working on the things that I can change (my surroundings) is just one good step in the right direction.
Suggestions would be SO appreciated. Thanks!

I'm so happy for your opportunities, that any suggestions won't even pop into my head!! You don't have to be a Zen Master!! Try to think of a place that helps you relax- next to a stream, sitting in front of a fire, a scenic overlook and just BE there!! Breathe... Take nice, easy, long breaths.
Sounds like a very exciting time which, although GOOD stress, is still stress.0 -
Great timing for the interview call to come in.
Way to go for coming to the realization that you deserve better.
It takes a lot of guts to start looking around for another job.
Sounds like your current employer is going to lose a great employee. :flowerforyou:
Please keep us posted on further developments here.
Best of luck to you.0 -
The first step on my journey to happiness happened 18 yrs ago when I chose to leave a job that was making me miserable. It was a good job and I was good at it but I was miserable. I woke up after months of depression. Why was I afraid? No one was keeping me here. It wasn't the end of the world. So what If I fail. The only one keeping score is me, and really, why exactly am I doing that? The only way to find work I love is to keep taking risks and trying something new. I look back now on that horrible event as the greatest gift. I finally stopped worrying about what people thought and focused on what I wanted. My happiness was 100% up to me. I still have a long way to go but I still cherish that first baby step. Congratulations! You chose you. Love you the way God loves you and you can never go wrong.0

I was SO unhappy at my last job. I was working there when I reached my highest weight of 382 lbs. It was hard to leave after 9 years, but once I left, it made a difference immediately. I was so much happier and so much more positive. I was ready to make some other positive changes in my life. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our surroundings that we don't even see that we are in a toxic environment. I think when we make important changes, like having surgery or getting out of a bad work environment, we are honoring ourselves and giving ourselves what we deserve, a chance to be happier and more successful overall. Good luck to you!0
