Hi, just joined, looking to get back to lifting after starting a great regime before christmas last year then falling off the waggon, because I'm a douche :ohwell:

Looking to start with Thinner, Leaner, Stronger by Mike Matthews, am reading it now just got to the workouts sections but will read the whole thing before starting.

Would like any new friends in the same boat, or with more experience in this area.

Here's to keeping it going this time.

LOL, I love the 'zero excuses' approach.

I am also new here. I just started lifting last week (after wanting to for a while). I've never lifted before but was pretty fit when I was younger. I recently noticed that the things I used to be able to do or pick up are harder now. I know we supposedly start losing muscle mass after a certain age, but I don't like being the damsel in distress when there is a jar to be opened or a big heavy something to lift.

I borrowed a few books from my library (I'm so cheap that I squeak), and so far I really dig one called "Strength Training Anatomy" because it gives me beautiful pictures of the muscles that are worked with each move. I'm somewhat limited with the exercises that are available to me, since I only have a few dumbbells and a cheap barbell and bench set (Weider 400) that I bought off Craigslist. Does anyone have suggestions of other books with routines and exercise descriptions that they really like?
