Shoulder cuff / rotator injury

Hello
I've been successfully doing Stronglifts for a few months now and love it.
I got a bit of a shoulder cuff injury back in May due to climbing - this went away within a week after I rested it by avoiding OHP. I then aggravated it again in July whilst trying to do pull ups. At this point the kids were finishing school and I knew I wouldn't be lifting over the summer so I was quite confident that it would get better. We then went on holiday and I did a 3-day windsurfing course. This was great fun but I have TERRIBLE balance so ended up in the water for the majority of the time, so spent each day pulling myself up onto the board hundreds of times! It ended up with my shoulder being so bad for the rest of the holiday that I couldn't swim front crawl or even get myself dressed!
Resting it has helped though it's a nightmare sleeping with the pain. I've been doing bodyweight exercises at home to stay in shape and it seems that everything other than squats and lunges aggravates. So instead I'm now running only and the pain is getting better. However, I am worried about not being able to lift once the kids go back to school in September. All of the Stronglifts movements other than squats are painful (and that's with no weights!).
I'm totally paranoid about losing muscle and definition.
Has anyone else been in this situation with any tips or advice please?

I hurt my shoulder playing sport when I was 18, obviously ignored it and cue 10years later the pain had got so bad that I couldn't sleep. After every scan imaginable and still no diagnosis I was sent to surgery to have it looked at to see what was up, turns out I had a torn labrum and major shoulder instability, mended in surgery and the shoulder capsule tightened up and 4 years on still all good.
Shoulders are tricky things as the joint is required to go through such a range of motion that damage often occurs, get it checked out to rule out any actual damage to the joint.0 -
Oh poor you!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's not that serious. I'm thinking that if it's not better by the time the kids go back then I'll have to go to the physio. Perhaps if I'd rested it properly last week...
In the meantime, just running and going for walks with the kids is BORING!!0 -
good plan, if its still not quite right after a few weeks rest then get it looked at, might need a cortisone injection to take down any inflammation.0

I injured my groin in Nov...didn't take it easy enough...had to do physio and no squats, deads or rows for 6 weeks...
I didn't follow that advice...started again too early and bam....hurt again.
rest it...don't worry about losing anything because you will build it up quickly once you are back.0 -

That's good to hear since my shoulder is bothering me lately.0
