Same sex partners. My partner is a bit older than me. Our team name: Older But Slower

I'm listing the Scaled because that is our division.

Tell me if WOD 1 sounds familiar

WOD 1:
5 Minute Time Cap. Max weight complex of:

Power Clean
Lunge on both legs
Push Press.

(I will be doing left-leg lunges every other day between now and then to see if I get that leg firing properly.

WOD 2:

10 minute timecap Chipper. Complete as fast as possible

60 KB swings (53/35)
50 Sit ups
40 Deadlifts (95/65)
30 Burpee Bar Jumps
20 Squat Cleans (95/65)
100 single unders

One partner working at a time, each partner has to do at least one rep of every movement.

WOD 3:

7 Minute AMRAP

Partner A completes 30/20 Hand Release push ups
Partner B Rows for calories

When partner A finishes, you switch and Partner B does 30/20. Repeat until timecap.

Score is total pushups plus total calories

Should be a floater WOD coming later in the week as well.

    Looks like fun!

only thing that looks like a time suck is the 30 burpees over Bar in the Chipper. Good luck!

Yeah but we might be able to work out a rythym for that to make it easier. Like one guy on either side of the bar. Do a burpee, jump over, burpee jump over. As soon as he stands the other guy drops and does the same. So you get to grab a few breathes every two reps.

Messed around with WOD 1 yesterday, got up to 145 and could have done more. I think my problem last time was pausing at the bottom of the lunge. No more. Down and right back up.

    Fun, but brutal.

We finished last by only a few reps but did exactly what we were looking to do, so we were happy with that. One of the other teams from my gym finished second. They destroyed it.

WOD1, pretty straightforward. They added a small wrinkle upon arrival when they said your back foot could not move on the lunge. Was never mentioned before that but didn't really effect us. For me (as I've said here before) my left leg was the limiting factor. I failed at 155. My partner failed at the same weight but on the shoulder press. Good motivation for me because if my left leg equaled the right I'd have hit at least 175, probably 185.

    WOD2.

This chipper was rough but we kept moving. It wasn't the individual moves it was stringing them together. The swings and situps were straightforward, but going from deadlifts (even at a light weight) to bar jumping burpees was tough. We each did two at a time which helped but towards the end I was struggling to make sure I did a lateral hop over the bar. The cleans sucked balls and my right quad is nodding in agreement with me. Fortunately my partner went on a heater for the single unders and got 95, I just banged out the last five

    WOD3.

Absolute. Torture. Last WOD so everyone who knew they weren't going to place was just giving it every ounce they had. My partner's elbow acted up so i was on the erg for probably 4 of the seven minutes. We did well on the erg but were slow on the pushups. I rowed first and got through my first 30 pretty cleanly, got back on the floor with 1:30 left and knew I was not going to finish 30 under the cap after my first five, but got to 24 or so. The last 3 finished my triceps.

As one of our coaches said, that last one is just taking a trip to your pain cave and seeing how far into it you can go before quitting. Neither of us quit and pushed it hard the entire 7 minutes.

Lesson Learned from the last two competitions, and one you can all carry forward: If the competition WOD involves the rower, it is probably going to suck worse than you can possibly imagine.
