Need VS FRIENDS

I don't post much in my timeline because I'm afraid of backlash when I come out as getting WLS. I'm just beginning my journey. I have so much to learn.

I'd be proud and glad to accept friend requests!

Thank you.

    Sending you a request too.

I know what you mean about backlash/opinions. I have weeded out my friends on here to include only those who support me in my decision.
I haven't included any info about my surgery on my page, I only talk about it here, on the WLS boards.

I had my surgery then joined here. Nothing the other forums talk about is relevant to me so I never go there. All of my friends are vsg or planning to. I really don't require strangers having a negative say in my life. I have found support not judgement. Just refresh your friends list with support only criteria. Good luck.

I stay off the main boards on MFP just because of that backlash. You will see me post and reply in this group and a couple other WLS groups I am in. Truth is, you will get the support and advice in the WLS groups you just can't on the main message boards.

I had my sleeve 3 years ago, so I've got lots of experience in living the life. I lose slowly and stall often, always have, so I'm not to goal yet. This is not unusual, but it's not normal either. Most people are to goal in their journey by now. So I keep living the life and following the plan and know I will get there someday.

Send a friend request if you are interested. Otherwise I will see you here. Good luck with everything. This is an awesome tool and I couldn't be happier with my sleeve.

I agree. Stay off the main boards and don't get pulled into that craziness unless you want to deal with confrontational people who should mind their own beeswax.

The WLS message boards are the opposite - they are absolutely wonderful, and filled with supportive people (like PAT!!) and good information. I've also never seen any trolls on the WLS message boards, so whether they just don't come on here, or the adminstrators are good about handling them, you don't have to worry about that headache.

A slightly different look at the main boards here.

One of the things I like so much about MFP is the huge number of people who have succeeded in losing weight and becoming fit. I have learned so much about the Calories in/Calories out model and how it works in real life from reading the main boards. You have to develop a pretty strong "idiot filter", but usually when there are disagreements, the discussion hashes out the differing points of view pretty thoroughly and I learn something. Fitness information, logging and stall issues, and the success stories are so valuable to me. I contrast that to the WLS specific forums, where there is so much info on WLS, but less from the rest of the world.

I completely agree that I have no interest in discussing WLS on the main boards, but I spend plenty of time there and it has been very valuable to me.

OP: sent you a friend request!
