Thursday. Presentation went well yesterday. Had a work dinner after (ate well and even skipped beers) went for a long walk before bed and finally got to listen to Carol and Jacks podcast. Really good. Glad to hear the focus on sleep. In in the sleep stress as if not more important than food/exercise camp.

John- surprisingly the Dexa scan was done at a local university in their kinesiology dept. even had to write check to "community testing fund". They also do VO2 max, resting metabolic and bod pod testing.

Chris- with John on it is possible to eat well when traveling (I travel 30 or so weeks out of year). Longhorn. Texas Roadhouse great options. Just think protein and veggies. Don't sweat what oil too much fat etc. I always ask then to sub the starch for more or double veggies, take away or don't let them put down bread etc.

Up early for Thursday check-in. Taking my wife in for some surgery this morning (nothing big). Hmm, stress waiting in the hospital while it is done is not a good formula for eating correctly. The days have warmed back up to the low 80's ugh!!! It was 38 the other morning and we were loving it. A couple more weeks and we can have our snow again... please :D

I think I said that my 13yo wants to do one of the short Spartan races, so I will have to look up what a Tough Mudder is, and where they have them.

I'm officially signed up for the Dallas Tough Mudder. I told my friend to register with the team, but we will probably run the whole thing. We both are at about the same running level so it'll be fun to pace with someone for a change rather than run by myself. I'm pretty excited to go! I haven't been to Dallas in ages and it's nice to know someone there so I have a place to crash! Not to mention our local airport just started chartering Dallas trips for $120 round trip (8 hours one way by road)... Have a happy Thursday!

    Good morning!

Went to my Weight Watcher meeting and though I was dreading the weigh in, I managed to lose a 1/2 pound since Saturday. Find that amazing since I know what I've eaten the last 5 days!

Trying to get my head back in the game and the meeting topic was very fitting for my mood. Talked about overcoming negative self-talk... which I've had a lot of lately. Really need to change that and start focusing on the positive things I do throughout the day and not the negatives.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

I would love to do a Tough Mudder with you guys, but I'm way up here in Minnesota! I'll keep my eye out for a closer event. I STINK at running though. Much more of a hiker/biker. A spring mudder or race could be interesting motivation for me to mix it up this winter. Yes, already thinking stupid winter ... fall will be like 2 weeks here, lol. Thank god I have a gym membership now, last winter I packed on the pounds.

Sounds like you really love your job, that is a great thing to have in life. I love George Jones thanks for the link.

I'm up 1 lb this week. The month is over and I did not do even come close to what I wanted accomplish but at least checking in with you guys kept me somewhat on track.

And I missed yesterday. ... we catered a wedding rehearsal and I just forgot. Howie, I am sorta in the same boat with you on how my August went, but the contest helped my mindset and I am getting more focused on what I need to do. Being back on the weights has been good, they can be addicting.

Friday. Taking a vacation day. In Chicago w/ hubby & kiddo. Incredible dinner last night at the Purple Pig. I adore their bone marrow. So so good. Even indulge in a couple of their great bread / toast points. Something truly primal eating that. Between using my fingers to pick up pieces of the herbs for it to the occasional glisten of fat dripping around my mouth.

Lots of walking around the city ahead. Which is a good thing after last night.

Glorious FRIDAY everyone!! Temps are still a bit warm during the day here (in the low 80's), but the nights are getting down to the low 40's and even the 30's, so I am happy. I can't wait to start camping once the snow flies and the bugs are gone. :D

I seem to be at a sticking point again, having stayed at the same weight (226) for a couple of weeks now. I need to plow through it to make my goal of under 220 by the end of September. Lots of hiking coming as it gets cooler and scouting for hunting season.

Montana is a long was from nowhere, which most of the time is a very good thing.

Mark there is something seriously wrong with you liking winter. LOL Winter camping does sound fun though.

Howie, I completely agree with that statement. My entire family is weird too!! The woods are so still when we are out there. Something primal about going out at -20 to -30, skiing into the back woods, ice fishing, and then doing minimal camping. We don't take tents, but build snow bunkers, which work very well. Best of all... NO BUGS!! LOL

John, love your updates!! You are so positive and funny.

Howie, it sounds like you are going through a" fluctuation phase" Hang in there.:flowerforyou:

Kim, sounds like you had a great time in Chicago. I looked up Dexa scan in my area and the pricing is not bad $70-$90. Did you have an idea of your body fat percentage before getting scanned?

Mark, I hear ya. I'm stuck too... sigh. I just have to stay positive and and keep at it, I'm still tweaking things but if I don't see a change in the near future I might have to get Jeff Fry's services. His rates are not bad.
I hope you have a successful hunt this season.
I am wishing for a good winter this year. Last year we hardly had any snow where I go dog sledding (South Lake Tahoe)

    Stacy, congrats on your loss!

Chris, it depends on the where I am going on my vacation and what my weight is at the time of the vacation. But some vacations, I stay within my calorie range.

Kevin, Keep doing the weights and try not to do too much too soon.

I had another long session today but I'm not happy with my performance. I was getting sloppy and I know that I am sloppy yet I can't seem to overcome it today. So my goal for tomorrow's session is no sloppiness!!
