I'm just curious to see if there's a trend at all in consistent exercise making baby come early or late. My dd was a few days overdue I was active but nothing consistent and it was mainly walking. My ds was a week and a half early still a little active (didn't know much about diet and exercise in them days) but I think I was a little more active towards the end because I was getting concerned about my weight. I'm 30 weeks now can't wait to meet bub but have do much more to do before she comes.

So with your bubs have you gone early or over and how was your diet and exercise during each time?

I exercised at the gym until 34 weeks with my 1st, then did lots of walking. He was 10 days overdue.

I was lazy with my 2nd, just did random workouts, but I did walk lots still, and my first was then a toddler. She was 12 days late and induced.

I exercised until 38 weeks with my third, then walked lots and had my 4 and 2 year old to entertain. She was 11 days overdue.

I've had quite quick labours...7 hours with my first, just over 4 hours with my second and about 10 hours with my third. I've used just gas and air with all three, and never needed stitches. Not sure if the exercise helped with labour and birth.

With my first, I didn't do much exercise at all, and though I tried to eat healthy, I did not monitor my calories. I was induced at 41.5 weeks. With this one, I've been fairly mindful of my diet and have been exercising 5-6 times per week (weights, walking, cycling, circuit training, yoga, etc) . I am now at 40 weeks and 2 days. No baby yet. :)

With my first, I didn't exercise as much as I should have and she came at 41w 5 days, but labor was a bear at 42 hours! All of the sources I've read on this topic seem to really only agree on one thing: exercise makes the labor go faster. It doesn't dictate when the baby will come, but the more in shape mom is, and the better core she has, the better her body reacts to labor and delivers baby. I have a couple different friends who worked out a ton during their pregnancies and the labors for both ladies were less than 10 hrs... Maybe some truth to this??

Unfortunately I haven't exercised as much as I want to this go around, as I've been so busy at work and with first tri-exhaustion haven't had the energy, but I'm hoping that will change by Oct. If so, I'm hoping to workout more and be in better shape for this one come delivery day, and hope to see a difference!

I was active for my entire pregnancy and our little one was jammed up so far in my rib cage I needed a vacuum assisted c-section. We made the call 5 days before my due date, delivered 2 days before my due date. (Glad we did, too, as she was over 9 lbs of perfection!)

How did they know she wouldn't drop if it was before your due date? My cervix was completely shut when I was induced the evening of 11 days overdue, and I ended up with a 4 hour 21 minute labour and no stitches! She was 8lbs10. My third was 9lbs1 at 11 days over.

With baby #1, I was on bedrest & delivered at 35 weeks. Labor was fast & easy.

I'm 18 weeks with baby #2 & am much more active. Well, I try to workout twice a week. Hopefully it helps!

There was no way to tell for sure. I was an IVF pregnancy so there was no doubt on the due date. But I was showing ZERO signs of progressing. Because I wasn't thrilled with the idea of a C, I saw a specialist less than 48 hrs before my procedure to make sure he didn't see any signs of progression. Between my OB/GYN and the high-risk OB/GYN they've delivered literally thousands of babies and they were confident this one wasn't coming anytime soon on it's own. Induction scared me more than a C and nothing terrified me more than the though of an emergency c (which is where all 3 doctors that saw me in the final weeks thought it would end up as) so I'd go with what seemed (to me) as the safer option. I'm glad I did, but I know it's not for everyone.

Maybe it's because it was an Ivf pregnancy then? I know they'd never do that over here, they'd allow you to go overdue and then decide.

Very interesting. Obviously it doesn't effect when bub comes. However I do feel like my little girl is going to come early, for some.reason I keep thinking 38 weeks, let's hope I'm right. Hopefully my labour is a bit quicker then. Both my previous ones have been about 13hrs. I really wanted to try drug free but my body was so exhausted I needed the break from pain to sleep. I really wanna do it drug free this time. I'll see how I go. Nearly 31 weeks now :-)

You should try it! My third labour was about 10 hours and back to back. I used the pool and gas and air and managed. I also used a tens machine (out of the pool obviously lol).
Good luck and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy
