TTC and trying to lose weight

I'm 28, and my husband and I have been TTC for 17 months. My weight has always fluctuated, but I wasn't overweight until 5 years ago (I've gained over 50 lbs.). I have PCOS, and I'd like to lose some weight while we're TTC- to improve our chances to have a healthy pregnancy. I am 5"2 and over 170 lbs.

I do not have a period since going off birth control pills, and I have been gluten free for 4 months. I have done Provera 3 times in the past year (as well as tons of bloodwork), and my first HSG test is scheduled for next week.

I am looking for support from women in similar situations as well as tips, resources, etc. Good luck everyone!

  • Welcome!

    A little background:
I am 31 I also have PCOS. I went 10 years without a period after I stopped birth control pills. I never took my PCOS seriously until I got married. We have been trying for over 3 years with no success. We did 3 rounds of clomid and I didn't ovulate at all. I've been overweight my entire life and finally decided to do something about it. I recently went to the doctors and they put me on Metformin, Provera, and Spironolactone. I go back for an ultrasound next week and my blood work should be back by then.

It's always nice to have a support group of people who know how you feel and what you are going through. Again welcome and good luck on your weight loss and TTC goals!

I am 30 and husband and I have been TTC 31 months. I have always struggled with my weight, but two years ago it got out of control, topping my charts at 215. It was about that time that I was diagnosed with PCOS and got depressed without understanding what it was and where to go to talk to other women dealing with it. I have slowly but surely been loosing weight and was down 20lbs when I finally signed up on my fitness pal as I was stuck at a plateau for the last 6 months. I have recently found some PCOS boards on Facebook, but on there so many people just whine about it. I am looking for people who want to beat this difficulty with me! I am trying to eat cleaner, trying to get out and at minimum walk often. I signed up for a goal to go 50 miles in October so I am pumped. I have been on metformin, but it made me sick. My doctor offered chlomid, but since my hubby has been out of work for a year, I have declined at this time and am focusing on me and my health to try to approach this naturally. I actually did get pregnant this summer, but it was an ectopic and my left tube needed to be removed. Now here we go on... I won't let it get me down. We got further than we ever did before! Now if I could just loose this pesky weight and get healthier I can help make it easier! I am currently taking inositol and have been pretty regular since my surgery in July, though its about every 35 days right now. We will see if I get back to regular as I loose more.
Good luck to all of you and your trying!
Don't forget - most of the fun is the trying!!! ;)
