painful cycle after 23 months of no cycle!

Hi All! My name is amanda and I was diagnosed with PCOS 3 years ago. After being prescribed metformin in April of this year I have finally been able to lose the stubborn weight I couldn't before, and during these two months that I have been doing T25 I have finally gotten my first natural cycle with no birth control after 23 months! It is exciting for me because my husband and I are trying to have a baby, which means I am finally ovulating. This is my second month of having a cycle , but this cycle is very very painful and heavy. Going through a pad every 45 minutes heavy. ( sorry TMI ) I heard that it is good to workout while on your period to relieve the heavy cramping and what not, so I did my T25 today and by the end of it I was in worse pain than i was before I did the workout, and now the whole lower half of my stomach is sore, right about where my ovaries are. I am wondering if working out while on my period , after not having one for so long, may have caused me to rupture some cysts.
I am scheduling an appointment with my endo tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone else here had the same experiences ??
I am really freaking out over here!

Since your uterus didn't shed for 23 months it has a lot of material to go through. The first 6-ish months of my periods after I started taking BC pills were like that, heavy and with cramping. I always worked out during, but can't remember if it caused "extra" cramps (other than the ones that were happening regardless).
Checking with your doctor is a good idea, but it's probably just your reproductive system being grouchy. Warm compress type things should help a bit. So should assuming the fetus position while lying down.

thankyou for giving me that insight , now im not freaking out as badly
  • U really need to talk 2 ur dr...going that long without a period puts u even higher risk for ovarian cancer! They do have a pill u take to force u to have a period that does not hinder ur fertility! U need 2 have a period at least 1 time every 3 months otherwise ur risks go up and fertility goes down...u can take the pills every month and it increases fertility :) good luck I know the struggle all too well but I'm here to tell u stick with it I gave birth 3 months ago to a wonderful baby girl (after4 yrs of trying) and also talk early about breast feeding because what they don't tell u is having PCOS really hurts ur milk production if u get any at all :/ feel free 2 add me :)

3 months without a period is usually the limit - at that point, you need your doctor to prescribe something like progesterone (taken for 10 days) to induce a period...or go on BCP, I'm surprised you let things go for almost 2 years! Definitely go see your doctor, make sure you aren't risking ovarian cancer or endometritis - not trying to scare you, but it's important.

I'm pretty sure you can be without a period for longer -what about people who are on depoor have and IUDs?

The problem with not having a period because of PCOS ir similar is that your uterine lining will build up and that can cause problems. And now that the OP has started having periods again they will be heavier until all the buildup is gone.

Checking with your doctor is always a smart idea, but there is no need to start panicking about cancer right away.
