Hi everyone. A couple of days ago, I had a consult with my surgeon but I wasn't expecting to leave her office with a surgery date that same day. I guess I assumed I'd have more hoops to jump before I got my date. Now I have about a week and a half of shakes, 4 times a day to get through...during football season..and a concert I've been dying to see tonight. I have to keep reminding myself that its just 10 days. It's a reminder game. 10 days. Then surgery. Then more shakes. Then soft foods. Then gradually I can have food again. I've gotten so used to playing with recipes and finding healthy food to eat/make - I miss that already.

Did you have to do all your psych eval, support meetings and nutrition training before you met your surgeon?

I am new here to, I do not have a surgery date yet, I am in month 4 of my 6 month diet trial. Have not lost much, a few freinds, and some angry children b/c I don't cook big meals and cake.

    Welcome aboard!

Use these next two months to hit the presurgery program hard. Get your behaviors and habits to become routine, and exercise will prepare your body for the surgery.

Kids are resilient. I cook most of the meals for my family and they survived the transition to more healthy cooking. Your kids (how old are they?) will need to support mom's new habits as well. You'll be showing a good example and setting them up for more healthy eating patterns as well.

Read a bunch on the group and assemble a set of friends at all stages of the process, and you'll get a good look into what people are eating. It really demystified the post surgery routine for me.

Thanks Rob, I have two girls 19 and 13 and I have a new 5 week old grandaughter. I am the "cook" in the family so all meals are shopped for and prepared by me. But I feel I am lucky b/c they are older and able to take care of their own needs, they are just spoiled.hehehehehe

Mine are a boy (16) and a girl (13). They will come around, or they will learn to cook, which isn't the worst thing in the world!
