Winter half training and ski season

After taking 5 minutes to find the group in the new set up, I have a question!

I'm doing a half at the end of February in New England, brrrr (especially since it's a waterfront race). I did the math and I need to start training no later than 1 Dec.

My question is how to y'all train for winter races and keep up with skiing/snowboarding?
I've got a season pass to a mountain up here and could definitely run on Sundays (long run day) and then maybe hit the slopes for a couple of hours. But on Saturdays, we tend to spend most of the day skiing so it'll be *kitten* crack of dawn for those 3-5mi runs. I'm not sure how this will affect my runs on Sunday or my recovery from all of it...

Halp!

what's your goal for the race? you have run a 1/2 in the past?

i've run a half in february in winter conditions (snow, slush, wind) and there was no way i was going to set a PB that day so i just ran the best race i could for those conditions. if you have a decent base then i wouldn't be worried about losing out one 3-5 mile weekend run. enjoy the skiing/boarding.

I ran a half in November 2012 and my next half is 26 Oct.

I'm also kind of worried about how my legs will feel the next day for the long run.
Probably just can't ski the last two long run weekends before the half?
