Macros Splits while pregnant?

Hi ladies,
Newbie post so apologies if this has already been answered!

I have a BMI of about 30 so plenty to lose. I'm 21 weeks along and have been fatting out all pregnancy, being lazy, not much exercise and eating waaay too much. In the past I have found the IIFYM method great, but I've googled and googled and can't find any advice on how a pregnant woman should split their carbs, fats and proteins.

If anyone else is tracking macros, please let me know what your splits are (or feel free to point me in the right direction!)

Thanks :)

I am also wondering the same thing... I was doing pretty much lowish carbs pre-pregnancy but now... All I could eat in my first trimester was carbs! It's getting better. I am at 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% fat right now which is kinda easy for me to follow. I was doing 40% protein pre-pregnancy but it's too much right now, I can't handle all this meat/protein, so I'd rather stick to something that's realistic for me!

Every pregnancy is different and every woman's body will require something different. Me, I love my proteins so I haven't needed to change my macros, whereas fit_mama30 had to change it up. So my advice is to find the macro combination that works for you and go with that, then readjust a few months after pregnancy to give your body time to adjust to all the physical/hormonal changes. Good luck!
  • Thanks guys! I have reduced my protein slightly as I'm not lifting heavy weights at the moment, otherwise my splits aren't that different to before. Will go with those for 4 weeks then tweak if I need. Will also pay extra close attention to my micronutrient goals too which I can be a bit lazy with when I'm not pregnant :)

I went from low(ish) carbs to now wanting some sort of carb all day every day!! lol
I have been following IIFYM for a while now so when I found out I was pregnant I changed my goal to maintenance and have been tracking my macros based of that. It has worked well for me so far.
