And running, or biking, or lifting, or walking, or jumping jacksing, or ...

I hope everyone has a terrific first day of this challenge. My goals will be very simple, since I know who I am during the holidays: I am a mama and a grandma, and I love to bake and cook lots of yummy food for my family. I love holiday foods and plan to enjoy them. For that reason, I hope to lose 2 pounds during this challenge to offset the two pounds I put back on in recent months of semi-maintenance. I plan to workout as vigorously as ever and be very consistent, downright religious, about that. And then, I will look to the new year as my time for knocking off ten more pounds. I am 15 pounds lighter than last year and can wear my "skinny" clothes. Next year I hope to need a few new skinnier clothes.

What is your plan of action for our New Year's Challenge, friends?

I'm happy to be a part of this challenge through the holidays to help keep me accountable. I still have lots to lose and will be working during Thanksgiving (thankfully) so I won't have that food to worry about, so my goal is to be down a little over 16 lbs by New Year's. Its a hefty goal but I think if I have some people to be accountable to, I will be able to do it!

I'm not going to push myself too hard if I can't do it, but I'm at 135.6 at the start of November, so will set a goal of 125 for the beginning of 2015. I'm also going to try to keep my workouts on track, including running outdoors so long as the weather permits, and keeping up with the regular strength training I've started, as well as working in at least some swimming.

I'm excited about two January races, although the weather may cause me to change my mind if it's like last year.

I am all logged in. trying to keep it reasonable because of the holidays coming up, so have entered 8 pounds, so we will see! I have started a new job and don't have as much time as I did for my workouts but am going to keep pressing!
  • My goal is the same as last challenge - 12 lbs. I did better than that the Halloween challenge but I'm getting closer to goal so I expect this challenge to be a bit harder, both mentally and physically. I have a vacation booked for the last week of the challenge and purchased a new swimsuit I'd like to look fabulous in and have a bin of summer clothing for my trip that should fit when I get down to my goal weight. It's so great to be striving to be close to my "normal" weight for my height in only a few short weeks!

    Good luck everyone!!

I didn't do much with the Halloween challenge. Since the start of that one I GAINED 3 more lbs! Enough is enough! I'm in the right head space now and am starting to head in the right direction. I'm currently at 220 and want to lose 15 by New Year's Day. More would be great but I'm hoping that 15 lbs is reasonable. I started the Slim in 6 program yesterday. I even got up this morning to do it before work. (For me that's AMAZING!) Strictly following the 6 week schedule I will complete it Dec. 12. I'll also start the c25k program first week of December. As for eating -- plan to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and 1 snack per day with smaller portions, etc. and will try to get in as much water as I can each day.

Well i didn't do well in the Halloween challenge at all. I am hoping to lose 5lbs this holiday season. I would be very happy with that. Right now I am 20lbs lighter then I was last year still have a very long ways to go every little bit will be good. And If I can lose rather then gain that would be even more awesome.

Good luck everyone in reaching your goals.

Hey all, I'm new. My goal is to lose 12 lbs, which will put me within spitting distance of onederland :) I also want to achieve more balance in my life - improve sleep and reduce procrastination. I need to think through how to achieve these goals.

Hi to you all. I'm here because of Stephanie, who is a great inspiration for me in term of commitment and consitency. Last weigh in was 247 (that makes officially down 32 pounds in the last six months... wait... it's been six months already? woah), for an average of 1.33 pound lost each week. I wanted to be down 40 pounds for Christmas, but with the help of this group, I may stretch that goal to 10 pounds in the next 9 weeks. Let's say being at 237 by the end of the year.

My goals are too stay within my calorie goals even on the weekends (I will need to exercise more to compensate those wine glasses!) and to use that elliptical 4 times a week.

Hi all! I started at 213 in the beginning of September and as of now I'm down to 191. I lost kinda fast in the beginning and I know it will slow down so I don't want to over do my goal and not make it reachable. I would like to lose 14lbs by New Years. :)

I'm on week 7 of a C25K and struggling a little bit with shin splints this week.......:( So another goal would to be to stick with it all the way through. I've signed up for a 5k on Thanksgiving so it's really important to me to finish that goal. Running 3-4 times a week, strength training 2 times a week, and walking on my off days.

I would also love to be able to continue to run/walk outside even in our wonderful lake effect snow Ohio winter. However I may look into joining a gym for a 3 month period after New Years. So those are my goals! <3 Good luck everyone

Yay, I'm excited to see some new faces (well, not new to me) here. Welcome!

Because the challenge has been continuing for a while we haven't been doing introduction threads anymore, and I wonder if we should? This one would probably serve that purpose.

Ready to do this! Is there a spreadsheet? I started at 205 and currently at 194. Its been a very slow process for me since I have no control on the weekends. I'm ready to commit, but I have another block in a couple weeks (headed to Hawaii) Well, I would still like to be at 175 by the first of the year. Big goal for me!
  • I'd like to lose another 10 pounds but I won't be heartbroken if it doesn't happen as this stuff takes time. I successfully lost 10 pounds from the previous challenge with dieting and dancing. I've learned that limiting my food intake to 1,200 is very unhealthy for my body type. So I've dropped the calorie limit and am focusing more on eating healthy foods and so far, although I'm overeating, my weight has stayed the same since I lost. So I'm going to continue with this experiment for the next couple weeks, I'm planning to do more strength based exercises and eat more instead of less. So far stress-wise this has helped me stay pretty mellow. Annnd if it doesn't work and I gain without losing fat I'll try another experiment!

Hi everyone! I'm going to go for 9 pounds because I really want to see 169 in 2014. Started last August with the intent to lose weight when I was at 233. I "cut back" for a few months, gained some (I'm sure) around the holidays then got really serious after the first of the year when I saw I had not lost any weight and had gained a bit over the holidays. That's about when I overheard someone talking about a calorie counting app, and I eventually found MFP. Since then I've lost about 47 pounds, much of it during these challenges. I think my first challenge was the Easter challenge.

My loss rate has slowed down but I'm sure its because 1) I am not as active right now as I was last summer and 2) because my snack choices although within calorie goals are too salty. I am determined to lose another 50 pounds so it will happen, maybe not as quickly as I planned though. But each week I learn so much about myself, my food choices and which foods affect weight loss.

    Good luck everyone!

Hi all. Im going for another 10lbs this challenge. I fell a little short last time but still managed to lose 7.4 which puts me down just over 50lbs since I started with MFP again back in Jan and about 65 from my overall heaviest. I did have a nice nsv of I can now fit back into most my size 13-14 jeans!! I cant believe how the time has flown though. I am so grateful to have found this group back in Easter challenge and how we have a stuck together and supported each other since then. I dont think I could have kept it up this long without it.

Another goal for me this challenge is last challenge and so far the beginning of this challenge I have been slacking on my posting and daily goals. I think that is making me plateau and I have been yo-yoing these last few pound for a few weeks now. I like making the daily goals even if they are small and trivial because I find I hold myself more accountable to get them done. So I am making it a goal to be more active again.

struggling this month, finding it hard to get in my groove with the new job. its 10 hour days with an hour travel each way. I will get there. not gaining so that's good but not loosing either. my exercise time has gone down by 1/2. I have reduced my calorie intake back to 1300 so will see if that will jump start me again. I am going to enjoy thanksgiving and will squeeze in a workout before dinner. I am happy with the loss I have achieved so far this year, I know the holidays are difficult so as long as I don't gain then I can jump back on it steady after the new year. since feb 24 2014 I have lost 104 lbs and kept it off. I have 41 lbs to my goal weight.
