Making Realistic goals

Hey everyone,

If I may make a suggestion - when setting your goals for this 100 day challenge, pick something that is realistic.

I would recommend no more than 10% weight loss in 100 days unless you are being supervised by a physician, a personal trainer and a dietician. Otherwise, you are setting yourself up for failure, which can derail your plans long term.

If you are 200LB, a 20 lb goal is possible in 100 days - but it will take dedication, discipline, perseverance and hard work.

If you are 200 lb and set a 40 lb goal for 100 days... Please re-think this unless you have said team above helping you daily.

I really want to see everyone succeed!

I know that my goal is a little ambitious but it's consistent with the rate I've been losing over the last 8 weeks. It should take me 12 of the 14+ weeks. I know that there will probably come a point where I stall but that's part of the reason I want to have a deadline hanging over my head. I'm an underachiever and procrastinator, and if I make the goal too easy I'll get lazy and lose less because I'll still achieve my goal. I'd rather work hard right to the end and risk coming up a little short. :)

I just revised my goal. I am bad av conversions (kilo to pounds). But now I should follow the curve suggested by MFP.

Thank you bmmalone for your suggestion and looking out for the group! I agree that its important to set realistic weight loss goals so we don't get discouraged and quit. . . whats the point if we set ourselves up to fail . . it will just be more of the same!

Personally, my goal is to loose 2 pounds a week for the 100 days (15 weeks) and I already started my program on Sunday. I have mapped out a gym/yoga routine and plan on doing the Whole 30 for the first month to jumpstart my weight loss, then beginning February 2nd I am enrolled in a medically supervised weightless program that lasts 10 weeks.

I am trying to set my self up for success by making weekly meal plans, always having nutritious food readily available, reading health books, creating a workout routine that is doable, and of course, having the support of this online community! :) Let's rock this!

I'm shooting for 2 lb a week. So far since I have been on MFP I dropped 80 lbs, so this will be a great motivation to continue to aim for my goals, especially after the holidays.

I'm aiming for 25lbs, and to get consistent in my exercise again.

I'm aiming for 25 pounds as well. That will put me at 199 - looking forward to seeing ONEderland.
