Hi Everyone!
Welcome to the new challenge. I think it’s been a few challenges since we have done introductions and I can see we have a lot of new people. This is a nice way to meet the new and get reacquainted with the old. I’ll start.
I’m Lisa, 31 and live on Long Island. I have been participating in these challenges since I stumbled across the group for its Easter challenge last year. Although now I create the groups and spreadsheets for each new challenge they really belong to all of us. I love the fact that it breaks the year into mini goals. That makes everything seem so much more achievable.
I also volunteer a few days a week after work with the New York Bully Crew which is a local pit bull/large bread dog rescue. We don’t discriminate so there are a variety of dogs there but most are pit or pit mixed. I have been volunteering there for almost three years. For me it’s better than joining a gym. So if see me talking about the rescue, my Freddybear (Freddy), Knucklehead (Rosco) or ADHD pup (Bentley) they are all current residents of the NYBC. We have about 30+ dogs at the rescue at any given time not including those in foster. Those three have been there for quite a while unfortunately and are usually my go to “troublemakers” since they can’t be given out to just any volunteer that comes in. Rosco is also my 5k training partner.
This year I would love to lose this last 30ish pounds and hit my ideal goal weight. This challenge I would love to see myself go down another 10lbs. The New Years challenge I didn’t lose anything even though I set a 10lb goal but I didn’t gain either so I count that as a positive. Also this year I have my fingers crossed that a house will be in our cards or at least enough to put a down payment on one. Then maybe one of my rescue pups will follow me home as either a furever pup![<3 <3](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/heart.png)

I think it was the Easter challenge that got me going last year as well, but I fell off the boards around August this year. I think I got so busy with work and life that I logged into MFP but that's about it.
For those who don't know me, my name is Beth and I'm 36 years old. I have 3 kids, my youngest son is 9, my daughter is 12 and my oldest son is 14. I live in Colorado and work as a paraprofessional in a special needs classroom.
I have been a yo-yo dieter in the past, losing weight and then saying "I did it, I'm done" and regaining it in a matter of months.
I'm finally learning how to treat it like a lifestyle change. I would love to get an additional 10-20 lbs. off but overall want to sculpt with weights more than anything and feel strong and capable.0 -
Hi! My name is Shea. I am 46 and live in Missouri. This is the first challenge I have done, and I am very excited about it.
I have three children ages 19,16 and 11. And like Beth, I too work as a paraprofessional in the special education department. I feel that this job is my life's calling and that I have been put here to make a difference in the lives of children that are often treated badly do to no fault of their own.
I have been overweight for as long as I remember. I had a short time of 'normal' weight when I was probably 18, but that didn't even last a year. I have been on many diets, none of which were sustainable. I have been logging my food with MFP for about 8 weeks now and have lost 30 pounds as of this morning. It is amazing. This time is different because I can eat what I want and not feel like I have failed. I just make sure to stay below my calorie goal. I have also gained an enormous amount of knowledge about the calorie and nutrition value of the food that I eat. I choose to eat healthy foods for the most part, but if I want to eat something not so good for me it's okay. I do it in moderation and make sure to log it. It is such a good feeling. I have 83 lbs to go, unless I decide I like me at a different weight. I have gone from morbidly obese with a BMI of 41 to obese with BMI of 36. I am able to do low impact exercises which have made a big difference as well.
I look forward to the extra push this challenge will give me!
If I can do it, anyone can do it!!

Hi! My name is Kim (not Simone
) and I come from Montreal, Canada. This is my second challenge, and I somewhat failed the first, so I hope to have a better success with this one. I am 30 years old and I graduated, not so long ago, as a master in French litterature (yup, those grammar mistakes? it's because english is not my first language). At first, I wanted to be a college teacher, but I didn't like it, so I'm now working as a technical writer/copywriter for a software engineering firm. I am also a food blogger, and a freelance food writer, that loves to eat, drink wine (and beer... and bourbon) and play in the kitchen.
I like to read, shop cookbooks online, watch old movies with my hubby (I love the 60's-70's period now), and I spend a lot of time thinking and talking about Simone de Beauvoir, as I am a "specialist" of its oeuvre.
I have been overweight/obese all my life (I think I saw a nutritionist for the first time when I was 8 years old), but I hit the bottom after a bad separation and my parent's second divorce (yes, I said second). My highest weight was 315 pounds, but I've quicky lost the first 25 pounds while moving out of my parent's home eight years ago. I've lost a second chunk of weight three years ago (another 25 pounds) with MFP and Turbojam. After that, I've maintained between 265 and 275 for a couple of years, and decided I needed to lose more weight before my wedding (this was 8 months ago). I was up a little (279), but I've successfully lost 37 pounds since that time (more than 70 pounds of my heaviest weight).
I want to lose 45 pounds more (that's my first real goal, to be under 200 pounds!), and that's what I am working for now. I exercise a lot (aerobics, HIIT, elliptical) and I just started heavy lifting. I'm alson an avid biker, and one of my goal for 2015 is to use my beloved bike to do a 100k ride in one day.
That's about it!0 -
HI everyone, My name is Cecy and I'm from South Fla. I work in the healthcare profession as an Executive Assistant. So I basically sit on my butt all day. I joined this group with the last challenge and I enjoyed it. It has kept me accountable.
My goal is to loose 30-40 pounds so I can reach my goal weight. I have lost so far 33 pounds since I started on this journey a year and half a go. Its been a bumpy ride so far. I'm going to incorporate exercise more vigorously now. I tore up my knee this past year and it is finally healed (better than it was, not 100% but good enough).
Wishing all of you a wonderful successful weight loss journey! Feel free to add me as a friend.0 -
Hi, I'm Kathy and live in South Dakota USA. I'm 64, been fat forever and thank the lord somehow decided to get myself under control when I learned my blood pressure was going up. No way I want to take pills the rest of my life. I guess that was the wake up call I needed, finally. I'm married, a mom and grandma and currently drive school bus. Worked many years in the IT industry wearing various hats including ColdFusion programmer. I keep Eclectus parrots, a few dogs and recently two little kittens came home with me after the farm they were born at was vacated.
My first challenge was the Easter challenge in 2014. These spreadsheet challenges fit my personality perfectly. I like the historical record! Didn't lose much in the last challenge and I think its because I'm not as active now that winter has set in. So I set my goal at just under a pound a week this time in hopes to actually achieve it. MFP has changed my life. Now, in addition to feeling healthier I am also fitting into regular size clothing! Wow. How odd to no longer shop in the plus sizes.

Hello all! My name is Lara and I live in Missouri (Misery). I'm 27 and have been overweight my entire adult life. I have used this site before under a differ name and it worked for awhile until I got tired of logging and blah blah blah... same old story. I am really hoping this year is my year. I have recently learned somethings that put my life into perspective a bit. I work in a crazy job with some pretty crazy hours which has never been conducive to me getting rid of weight.
I am looking forward to the accountability of this challenge and would LOVE some more friends so please feel free to ADD ME! I can't wait to get to know everyone here0 -
My name if Freyja. I am 38 years old and live in Seattle. I have been happily married for 181/2 years and we have 4 children 17,14,12,10. I have been part of these challenges since last Valentine's Day. while I haven't always been successful I do find these very helpful. I think I great to have the accountability.
From the time I was 10 or 12 years old I had people telling me I was overweight. Needless to say my self esteem was shot before I even had the chance to figure out how to be comfortable in my own skin. over the years I have done the yo-yo thing like most everyone else. I am not sure weight wise what my heaviest was because I avoided the scale if at all possible. But my guess is anywhere between 230-250. I know the biggest size i was wearing was a 20. Not real helpful for the self esteem. Last year I started the year at 213. This year I started at 196. I had actually gotten down to 185 at one point then unfortunately put it back on. which I have done a couple of time actually in getting down 185 then going up again.
Anyway my total goal is 130. I would really love to be down 30 by June. That is when my daughter graduates from hs and my parents are coming. By that point it will have been just under 2 yrs since I have seen them so I would like to surprise them with being smaller.0 -
Hello, I am Jeanette. I am 55 years old. I live in Texas. I have been part of these challenges since Easter and not made one goal. I did loose 2 pounds during the last challenge! Monday thru Friday I teach high school and on every other weekend I work in a hospital lab. I have a husband, a son and a daughter who gave me three beautiful grandchildren. I am 5 feet tall therefore 155 pounds is a bit too much weight. It's funny I don't feel over weight until I see myself in pics and family videos. My goal is to get out of the 15s and see 14s on the scale!0

Hi! I'm Lesley, a 53-year-old hiker, teacher, animal lover, and motorcyclist. I enjoy doing these challenges because it keeps me motivated to exercise and eat healthily. Being a high school teacher, one of my goals is to be a positive role model for my students by staying at a healthy weight (Tennessee has a high rate of childhood obesity). Oh yeah, and I also really like cute clothes.0

Hi, I am Meg from Scotland, living down south in Hampshire, UK. I'm 54 and never got rid of the weight I put on while pregnant with my second child. I am married and have two lovely sons, one (20 yrs) in his final year at university and the other (15 yrs) in his final year at secondary school. I work part time as a learning support worker for disabled students at my local university and also do a little private tuition. I love to dance and belong to two dance groups, one doing circle dancing, the other doing regency dancing (think Jane Austen films!). I have had some success with MFP but fell off the wagon. Now that I have other health concerns I don't want to add anything that could be sparked by being overweight so I want to get my BMI back to within the healthy boundaries. Like Jeanette I don't feel overweight and am shortish (5'4") so look a bit squat in pics. Feeling more positive about shifting some weight in this new challenge.
Great to meet you all0
