Hi Everyone,
I'm thinking of getting a FitBit Charge HR soon, but have a question.
At the moment I go to the gym, do a weights session and then get on the stationary bike for a few minutes.

The weights session should be fine, but when i do the bike it syncs to MFP.
If I'm wearing my FitBit at the same time will it double up my calories ?

  • I think Fitbit takes the data from that time frame, and associates it with the exercise adjusts as necessary with MFP. I've not seen any issues of doubling my calories. I only log into MFP, I don't track exercise from my wrist.

I believe you have to have it set to allow negative calorie adjustments and your fine (at least that is what mine does). When I run; Map My Run syncs to MFP and my Fitbit syncs to MFP so I end up with a negative calorie adjustment that balances it all out.

No. The MFP entry will overwrite the Fitbit calorie stats when it syncs over.
You'll get to keep the "steps" that the Fitbit saw, and distance.

And start an activity for the lifting too - you'll need to manually log that.

HRM formula for calorie burn related to HR is only valid for steady-state aerobic exercise.
And if you are doing lifting right, it shouldn't be aerobic, and should be no where near steady-state HR. Should be anaerobic and HR going all over the place.
The database entry will be more accurate.
