hi all, I've just undergone surgery in the UK four days ago to have the Gastric Sleeve done, Ive finally managed to keep liquids down today 2 x slim fast shakes and 1 slim a soup, I'm looking for any tips for me or recommendations for other liquids, also interested in speaking with people who have just had the procedure to share worries and tips. thanks for any advice you can give me.

Hi Dove. I had surgery 4 days ago too. Did your surgery come with a diet plan or any nutritional support? I had to stick with clear liquids for the first two days and then protein liquids for a week. I wouldn't think slim fast shakes wouldn't be great for a newly sleeved tummy. I drank water flavored with crystal light, low fat broth and sugar free popsicles. I am now on protein shakes and try to get about 60g of protein a day and 64oz of liquids.
  • Thanks Murphyraven I think I'm finding the diets different in the UK some of the above I don't know what they are, I'm following the plan they gave me which is to try 3 meal replacements per day and other liquids, I'm finding I can Tolerate any liquids. I managed to liquidise soup for my tea tonight but only managed a small amount but was nice for a change. I'm still having trouble with the gas inside from the surgery partivatly in my shoulder blades. I'm also trying not to take too big sips of things as o can feel the air with each sip and it bloats me really quickly do you find this too

yes. I am taking tiny sips but manage to swallow air anyways. I am constantly shuffling around the house to be able to burp to release the pressure. I am finding warm liquids are a bit easier for me to get down. So far I am liking the chicken soup flavor of protein powder by Unjury the best, I am also making sugar free pudding with added unflavored protein powder for something slightly more solid. Hand in there it gets better :)
