Well, Tuesday night I managed to brake my toe, so now I can't do a lot of the exercise I have been doing. Don't know how long it will be till I can do squats, deadlifts, rows, OPs. Can't do the walking that has been such a big part of my weight loss and maintenance. So worried about losing muscle and gaining weight back. I know I won't do very well at cutting back more on my eating. Going to do the bike as much as I can, and work with weights on exercises that don't require standing.

Ugh I feel your pain!! About 2 years ago, I stubbed my big toe on a mat while at taekwondo.. and seriously broke my toe - it was so bad that the bone broke off, but it was sitting in place.

It SUCKS. You never really know how much you use your toes!

I am sending you well wishes for a speedy recovery!!!

Take care of yourself! Injuries are frustrating, but going back before you should will end up just setting you back even more. Even if you lose some progress, you will be able to get it back once your toe is healed. I sprained my ankle badly 4 months ago, and it still bothers me and I need to wear a brace.

Dang, that's lame :| But hopefully if you can do some stationary bike then you could do some of the leg machines at the gym (leg curls, extensions, leg presses) and some seated rows and incline presses and, y'know, a lot of seated stuff really? That would at least help you maintain some muscle!
  • I'm sorry that happened and hope you heal quickly :frowning:

It's really cool that you're modifying your workouts to keep at it instead of giving up, though!

Well, I guess I'm motivated - I went to the gym last night after breaking it the night before. I've always read bad things about the leg curl and extension machines, so I don't know if I want to do those. I had decided not to use the abductor and adductor machines, but now I may use them. I guess I'll try the leg press. As long as it doesn't bother my toe, I guess I'll do it.

Thank you all for the kind words. I know this is a really minor thing to be complaining about compared to the stuff so many people go through.

it sucks though. and it's the kind of frustrating . . . just one little toe, and the whole thing stops dead. sometimes the 'discipline' part of lifting is the discipline to NOT lift, i guess.

    hope it heals.
  • Sorry about your toe. Hopefully it will heal quickly.
How about trying some seated upper body routines? It's not the same as what you have been doing but maybe it will help to stem the loss of muscle...

Well, I'm trying to do what I can at the gym, and ride the exercise bike.
