I had VSG surgery on 1/21. According to the Dr. my surgery went textbook perfect and I did not require a hernia repair. I only took the pain meds for about 5 days and was feeling significantly better each day.

I had my one week checkup with the Dr. yesterday (technically 8 days) and things are looking great, all my incisions are healing nicely and I've lost 10 lbs since my surgery date!!! I was shocked at the initial weight loss. I was hoping for 10 lbs loss per month so I was a little concerned but since I am feeling good and healing well the doctor didn't seemed concerned at all.

My calories have been under 600 a day while on the clear liquids and protein shake portion of the diet. Today starts my pureed phase. I had 1/3 cup (3oz) of cottage cheese for breakfast and was able to get it down fine. I don't feel any restriction/fullness yet but I am not tempted to eat any more as I'm not really hungry I am just eating off a schedule.

The only thing I need to work on is consistently getting all my liquid in. Most days I can just get 64oz in but there have been a few days where I fall a bit short. I am trying to really pay attention now that I am on the pureed stage and have to wait 30 min before and after meals to drink.

Good for you! I had mine done on the 13th and like you had a pretty smooth surgery. I did have a hernia to fix but nothing major. Pain meds I was off off after about day 4. Only thing I had an issue with was constipation. Somehow didnt remember that part...lol My incisions are good enough I got cleared for Cardio and swimming again. I can only get in 4oz myself. I lost 20 lbs in the two weeks leading up to my first Post op Visit. No issues getting the water in.
Good luck and feel free to add me as a friend. Looking forward to more progress!

Good job and congrats to both of you! I know in the beginning it was challenging to get in all of my liquids, but I just planned it out and paced myself. I think it's common to not be able to get to 100% of your liquids and protein in the beginning.
